Sprint Mogul ROM update coming October 22nd?
If you’re the proud owner of a Sprint Mogul, word on the street is that October 22nd could be your lucky day. Why, you might be asking? A new ROM is coming, complete with a number of bug fixes and feature enhancements that Mogul owners have been clamoring for quite a while now. The biggest rumored change is an upgrade to Bluetooth stability and sound quality. A lot of Mogul owners have been complaining about static and choppy audio when connected via Bluetooth, so a fix would bring some welcome relief. There’s no word on what else might be addressed in the update, but you can bet that Sprint and HTC will be addressing more than just Bluetooth, as ROM updates generally bring a significant number of enhancements to the table. Mark your calendar for the 22nd, Mogul owners. It might be your big day.
finally been waiting for the longest….perhaps rev a? or unlock the gps? can’t wait

I have a Mogul. The bluetooth is definitely “choppy” sometimes, so an update would be great. REV-A would be really nice. GPS? OK, I’ll take all of the above!
How is this similar to the AT&T Tilt? It looks fairly close… Same features/specs?
I have the HTC Mogul and i am so sick and tired of it freezing up! I highly doubt that this small “fix” will really change anything.
…now i’m just waiting for Sprint to bring on the Curve!
I have the Mogul and i have never had mine freeze up once ever. if this update gives us Rev A and GPS i’ll be happy but we will see what happens.
hopefully this update will work via my computer unlike the Moto Q update that wont not work through my computer.

The bluetooth is definitely not configured correctly from the factory. After messing with it for an hour, I was able to hear key clicks and screen taps through bluetooth, but could not hear voice calls in the same mode. I’m hoping the software fix will clean up the mess. Also, if the upgrade speeds up the action on the camera button / shutter that will be good too. The HTC task manager 2.0 patch floating out there does a good job of addressing the memory issue (where applications stay open).
And yet still no word of the 6800 for Verizon WTF!!!!

Shasta… This is why theres still no word on this phone from verizon, it has a whole lot of problems and it keeps failing the test. Verizon will not put a phone with these type of problems, go check out the owners reviews and you will see what i mean. But the Samsung i760 will be out at the beginning of november.
Rev-A is not expected until sometime in 2008 now. I think the last word I read was something like Spring. I do know the last rep I talked to stated “Rev-A is coming, but I cannot say when. You will need an update when it comes out though” Not very helpful, prolly could find a lot more useful information on one of the ppc sites like ppcgeeks

i called sprint stores and they said no update today, does anyone have anything different?
On the phone`with Sprint now…clueless…What bluetooth problem???? sheesh duh….
Just spoke with HTC rep. He heard about the rom rumor but can’t officially comment! He knows about the BT problem but again said it is up to Sprint. He was nice anyway. So we are stuck with a cool phone and crappy BT. Well at least its no dropped signals like my Treo 650 had! Arf! Oh yeah, what’s with my sound going mute? I have to soft reset or power off to get it back! Just started on Sunday. (3 week old phone) Twice already.
Where is the update? Its the 22nd of October?

The ROM update is out and I’m totally underwhelmed by it. I see only 3 things fixed in it of any significance. You know how bad they’re trying to make it significant if they’re touting “Adds new Sprint start up and sign off screens” as part of the update. HTC, come to the game when you’re ready to play.
Why does this phone do everything but picture message? will the new ROM fix this problem??
Sprint and HTC regret any inconvenience customers have recently experienced with the Mogul. HTC is working on a new version of the software ROM for the Mogul which incorporates enhancements for Bluetooth performance and corrects issues that were unintentionally created by ROM version 2.16.651.0 (posted on HTC’s website on October 24). Both Sprint and HTC have begun testing the new software and are targeting to make it available for download by the end of November. Once fully tested the download will be made available on this webpage. Please bookmark this page for easy reference.
As a short-term solution, customers who downloaded the ROM version 2.16 should download the previous ROM version 2.09.651.3 posted as the Download below. This will restore previous functionality to the device until a new version is complete.
Additionally, HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008. We would also like to extend our thanks to those customers that have taken the time to identify and report these issues to us.
