God hearts Halo 3
The two things least likely to go together (it seems) are churches and violent video games. But that’s not stopping churches across the country from changing the meaning of "halo" most associated with religion and holding combo Halo 3 tournaments/Bible studies. And not just for the 17+ year olds that are "allowed" to buy the game. They’ve got setups for kids as young as 12 to partake in, giving them access to material that they might not be able to get on their own. The churches in question argue that their purpose is to be "in touch" with youth, and that by getting them through the door, it will expose them to other churchly goodness. Uh…or they could just come in for the free gaming and ignore the Jesus stuff.

So….churches can’t play video games? Isn’t that a tad judgmental?
“And on the 7th day God rested to Pwned some nubs on Xbox Live. Can I get an OWNED?” “OWNED!”
I don’t own an XBox, but I love getting together with guys from my church and playing Halo. We usually have 2 XBox’s running on projectors, beer and pizza. Good times.
giving candies to the kiddies doesn’t do it for them anymore?
um… I don’t get it, seems kind of ouside the BGR… Churches do alternative haloween things, what’s wrong with brining em together to play HALO, ok i can see there might be a conflict with playing an RPG like D&D, Grand theft Auto might be a little iffy, but halo? Did you ever read anything in the old testament (now We are talking violent)?
YAWN, it has been a slow week in technology because BGR is dicussing crap I could care less about. Where are the good posts BGR?
slow news day indeed were are the curve snd ibrick winers
Well I would, they make the ESRB ratings for a reason.. If churches are going to use it as a way to get more kids who would otherwise not be able to purchase it themselves into their congregation, I don’t know how right that is.
But I don’t have kids, I still am one pretty much, so who knows.
