iPhone activation hiccups

Apple was having a bit of a bad day yesterday, completely shutting down their iPhone activation service until further notice. There were numerous reports of people trying to activate brand new iPhones, and they were bumping up against an error message informing them that iPhone activations were "not available at that time."  Apple is telling people to hold off until tomorrow, but hasn’t given any specific information regarding the shut down. Calls to AT&T revealed that the problem is, indeed, on the Apple/iTunes side of things, and that a fix could come at any time. When the dust settles, it will be interesting to see just what caused the outage, and what steps AT&T/Apple takes to fix the problem.

I am so glad that I went back to a BB Curve. I loved the Iphone but way to many “hiccups” and still no REAL updates to problems users are having. I was right behind BGR at Intl Plaza the day of the drop, but only lasted 30 days on the device. This little outage is bad for biz.

Wow first you can’t activate you ibrick via itunes for 72 hours strait then the phones Bricked Near uoperable unlocked phoes with 3rd party appz form update 1.1.1 via iTunes. and now New locked ibricks can’t be activated via itumes AGAIN! I’m noticing a pattern folks.

Yo Crapple DUMP ITUNES from the ibrick firmware! let it run its own firmware indepentent of itunes acitvated without itunes. open up that closed platforme. the phone runs on a mini version of OSX you say? I say it runs on a combination of Windows CE windows ME and windows NT

whats that spell? CEMENT thats all you overpriced plastic brick works with right now.

but seriously crapple needs to stop strong arming hardware that customers paid for pretty soon you won’t have customers if these shenanaigans keep up. the number of phones you have retuned will soon equal two thirds of the total amount of phones you sold. the other third is the apple worshipers like Ejay and Ross who get on the pentagram conducting rituals to summon el-stevo to hold his wrath an bless ther bricks so they work again an plead for mercy from there deity.

You would think they would send an email to AT&T and Apple reps so we could tell the cusotmer what was going on… had two people come back in today because their phones wouldn’t activate….

For a communications company there is a real problem with communicating.

Complain, complain, complain, like no other carrier has problems, Heck BB’s BIS has been down how many times now? And did they send out emails?

iPhone is here to stay, like it or not.

Took 2 hours activate, you poor poor thing, suck it up and move on with life its a phone+ipod. Shit happens and things break. And seeing how Apple and AT&T are so big do you think they really are going to send out emails while there troubleshooting or maybe upgrading systems? Like DAH.

Call the Whitehouse and have them explain why they havent sent out emails on the economy, Iraq, and more.

    Dammmmm

The Iphone was hyped way beyond what it could provide. I am using an Iphone on T-mobiles network and I have had less issues then anyone I know so far on AT&T. As far as blackberrys go, I notice it has its occassional issues but usually are resolved almost immediately. As from what galv said
“but seriously crapple needs to stop strong arming hardware that customers paid for pretty soon you won’t have customers if these shenanaigans keep up. the number of phones you have retuned will soon equal two thirds of the total amount of phones you sold.”
Your paying for a high priced Ipod with internet.. Which is constricted by Itunes so you need its format.. Nothing else. The only reason I am keeping it is because of the internet..
