BlackBerry 9000 whispers in our ear

No, it doesn’t have the amount of hype and speculation an iPhone did before its release, but we don’t think there has even been this much anticipation for a BlackBerry, ever. The hidden-in-a-dark-secret-underground-lab BlackBerry 9xxx has sent out a couple distress calls to us, pleading to let people know it’s coming and what it should have in store for the incredibly faithful and addicted BlackBerry users. First off, 3G. It most certainly will have a 3G radio and we’re not talking about the European bands. (The actual 3G bands are not yet clear, but we can only assume North American 3G is a go.) Second, this isn’t your momma’s 3G, this is going to be HSDPA. Forget the Wi-Fi scam, this is real speed with simultaneous voice and data! That isn’t the best part, though…we’ve been told it will rock a 600MHz processor! Finally. We shouldn’t have those necessary and annoying lag times when performing basic tasks, and there should be a drastic reduction of the bottleneck for Internet speeds on the device. What we reported ages ago still seems to be spot on — RIM is actively looking at integrating a Backup/Restore function to facilitate transferring your entire backup to an on board memory card. We’re trying to lock down a solid release date at this point in time, but if we had to guess, we won’t see it this year. Most likely early ‘08. You’ve got our address, RIM. Shoot one over, OK?

NA…I would not believe anything posted by people who say they have inside info. Most of the time these people make up stories to make themselves appear important.
They get caught all the time on the Net and Blogs. Most savvy know to ignore their BS.
You can usually tell they are lying by how the story flows. E.g., this person knows an insider and that insider was willing to disclose very detailed information on upcoming product launches, three months before the supposed launch?
Fact is, big companies are very protective of product launches. And it’s easy enough for investigators to find out who in the company is divulging company secrets.
Employees don’t say a word because they know they can be found out pretty easy and they will be fired for being loose lipped.
You can also look at the grammar and spelling of the poster, to determine the truth of what he or she says. I assure you, any person with access to insiders [who are usually high level executives] don’t type in all lower case and make bonehead grammar errors.
T-Mobile is launching a BB 9000 on March 8? Yeah right.
march 2008.. not march 8th…not an insider..didn’t say i was…i’m t-mobile customer… t-mobile is being straightforward about it..not loosed lipped at all…they confirmed there will be a 9000 series..didn’t give me any specs. (i didn’t say that they did!) yes i type in all lowercase.. your point in this particular case is moot!
I will drop my DASH as soon as the 9000 come out.
this phone will be sweet! tmo is going 3g in april so I am sure they will be able to support it. cdma will not get this first. its likely At&T will, and tmo will follow shortly after. i work in the industry, and all i have to say is that this phone will be nearly flawless. think benefits of curve mixed with iphone!!!
Ok here’s my 2 cents! Forget the technology and bells and whistles, Ahhhh folks, is this on Nextel network or Sprint? I have next to hell and I am soooo tired of getting my 15th refurbished phone I could throw it out the window~ So this is what I would like to see as an avid BB user: (disclaimer- we are talking about the NEXTEL network!)
1. The phone will actually works for the duration of the contract.
2. CAMERA- WHYTF is there NOT a camera on the 7100.
3. It will work and I won’t have to go to Sprint on a busy day and give up TWO hours to be told “we only send BB’s back to Motorola and we will mail you another unit in around
2-3 business days..oh I forgot this old famous “did you back up your numbers on BB desktop
4. It will ring and not Vibrate when programmed.
5. If broken, a quicker turn around time on fixing the problem or REPLACING WITH NEW UNIT THAT ALSO WORKS
Ok I am off my soap box, other than that, I have to stick with Next to Hell because of the rate plan I have, no ONE, noone…..can beat the monthly service and yes its unlimited
Touch Screen and out in February 2008!!! You heard it here first!!! IPHONE is left in ruins!!!
YES AT&T WILL BE FIRST TO CARTY THIS!!!! Insiders want to know!!!
um hi ev-do. maybe you mean wcdma/utms/hsdpa
i love this phone so much
I would drop a dash for a nokia 6010.
I’m by no means a business man, but the use of a bb has helped me increase my income by simply using the bb messenger feature.. Long story short, I think the average consumer can benefit from the bb and enjoy the bells and whistles of the 9000. I think im living proof that the fishtank can handle both business and pleasure.
Rogers Rep in Canada told me yesterday (1-18-08) the 91xx will be coming out in Feb ‘08.
I then asked about the iphone… and was told the same time. (Feb ‘08)
I’m not sure if she know’s what she is talking about or not, but I hope it had some credit to it… I told her i wanted to upgrade from my 8700r to an 8800, and get a second one (curve) for the wife… she suggested i wait until feb for the new blackberry.
So… HOPEFULLY… Rogers is on track with this stuff.
hmmm… i guess all of our attorneys and the CEO of the firm are all boneheads as they do not believe in wasting time with punctuation, etc. on trivial email or postings. proper grammar is for formal business these days. sounds like you need to catch up with the times, MichaelSF.
as to the 9000, the sooner the better to keep my crackbabies away from the iPhone and windows devices!
When is this phone going to be in stores because on march 5 the new curve is coming to store for t-mobile
i bet this will go to T-Mobile due to the fact that they have already won bids on newer frequencies that supports 3g network one of the major set backs preventing the switch is the government taking their time to remove themselves off the freq. Tmobile being so anxious they even paid a large sum to speed the process up So if the release date for this nice bb 9 series is true im confident T-Mobile will be the first. I have owned many data devices in the past and recently purchased the curve (my first bb and best device so far) so im already sold on this newbie.
I’m ready for this phone to come out; Whats taking so long.
I was considering the bb88xx series, but I really want a phone with GPS AND a camera. Love the HTC phone details, but definitely pricey. I am currently a T-Mobile Customer, but was considering switching to Verizon. Does anyone know what carriers will have the new touch screen bb series? Is there any more information regarding this phone’s release date? thanks.
AS of 02/21/2008 T-Mobile will have the new Blackberry 9000 we are looking about
(April 2008)I will sell my iphone its unlocked on T-Mobile and works good
I’m guessing that the BlackBerry 9000 won’t be out until June to December since they are taking their time with the release and all probaly working out the minor bugs that the phone still has unlike iPhone who released it without any final testing which concluded in a recall of all the firmware 1.1.1 versions.
I will give up my Dash when this baby come out
Who will be carriers that will have this tool when it comes out. I am with Verizon and they always seem to be the last to get the good stuff…
Thanks,
Thom
Did any of you fools read anything on this phone? T Mobile will be the first company to carry the new Blackberry. I will be happy to take any bets you would like to place, 10 to 1…….
Research before you make dumbass claims!!!!!!
Steve
P.S. I work for Blackberry and I am positive!
hello man been talking about this i got the wing, dash, curve and this bbl is coming to t mobile so just hold on new york here i have 2 up grades you best know im getting
Apple’s product looks like it sucks, Glavatron? Hmmm. Ten million sold in a year . . . I guess not everyone agrees with you — including RIM, which seems to have decided to make the 9000 look like an iPhone. What, they couldn’t hire another designer?
FUCK BLACKBERRY! WHO EVER HEARD OF PAYING AN EXTRA 20-50 A MONTH JUST TO GET AN E-MAIL TO POP UP ON YOUR HOME SCREEN. MY MOGUL WILL DO THAT. BLACKBERRY IS FOR WHITE COLLAR PRICKS THAT LIKE THE STATUS SYMBOL. KISS MY ASS RIM!!!
