T-Mobile Shadow in the concrete jungle!
I guess you could sort of say we’re on a roll with the HTC Shadow…We won’t keep you in the dark much longer, though. (Sorry, had to!) Thanks to one of our readers, we just scored some photo snaps of T-Mobile’s Shadow device. It is, in fact, the HTC Juno / HTC Phoebus! He told us that it might actually be a VGA screen as the display is just remarkable. The device is "very glossy", and you can see the screen in direct sunlight no problem, as well. The button in the middle of the phone is actually a scroll wheel and it also performs the duties of a 4-way navigational pad. He also goes on to tell us that we should inform everyone that while the color choices of brown and sage green sound tacky, they are indeed "very classy and look great." The sage green device has a light champagne colorization on the front, and the back is a soft-touch rubberized finish in a sage green shade. The brown, is well, sparkly brown. Does the back of the phone say that it has a 2 or a 3 megapixel camera?

It’s about time T-mo got off their butt and started to offer some new phones, AT&T is killing them.
This looks ok, but it looks kinda cheap looking. I’ll reserve final judgement when I see it in person.

It’s only 2MP. Screen resolution is set to 320*240 tho I think the LCD itself could be VGA but I don’t think WM6 Standard supports VGA yet. I was lucky enough to get one myself! It’s pretty slick. Battery life could be better, although I have been playing with it non stop.

One way to tell if it is VGA is web surfing. WM6, or one of the later WM5 updates fixed a problem with images not getting sized correctly with VGA compliant screens. In IE select View and you should see an option called ‘Use High Resolution’ I would think if it is VGA and the software support is there this option should display.
Everything will look QVGA otherwise. Having owned several VGA PDA’s unless you force full VGA support I can see a person not knowing for sure. Icons should look much better though. If it it looks smooth and smaller icons do not look pixelated I am betting it is VGA.
Also, Coreplayer or an older version of TCPMP should give you a good indication it is VGA or not.
Also, wouldn’t System Information under Settings tell you it is VGA or not. The LCD option has the resolution.
This one is deal breaker for me. I know several people think VGA, so what, the screen is so small to begin with but VGA makes a world of difference. Especially with the smaller screen.

WM6 standard doesn’t have any options in the browser to use high res. all system info points to 320*240, but the screen itself is so fine you can’t tell there is space between the pixels. the icons and text actually look kinda bad, (soft blurry edges) like a low res image being blown up, which further leads me to believe it may be a VGA lcd. i wish my camera could get in that close so i could show you all what i mean!
I think I know what you are talking about with the icons and text looking bad – within Internet Explorer but I am surprised if you see this with the OS. You must be right then – WM6 Standard is not designed for VGA. It almost sounds like WM2003SE with VGA. The very unpolished look in many cases. That would explain why IE doesn’t have that HI Res option.
Does the LCD say 480×640 if you go to System Information? When you use IE do the images in many cases look oversized? If it was utilizing VGA like it should it would feel like you are browsing on the desktop. That Hi Res option really makes a difference. I can’t believe Standard wasn’t primed up for different resolutions since the Windows CE core was updated to handle almost any resolution you could throw at back in 2003.
I am surprised HTC didn’t do something to correct this.

If it is a smartphone it isn’t TouchFlo. From what I have read the Kaiser isn’t TouchFlo either. Only the Touch.
