BlackBerry Pearl 2 (8130) launching Wednesday on Verizon Wireless?
It appears the BlackBerry Pearl 2 (8130) along with the Samsung U470, LG VX8800, and LG VX10000 will be joining Verizon Wireless’ lineup come Wednesday morning. The carrier has posted a teaser site, in which mouse movements shine light upon dark silhouettes of four upcoming devices. Did you really expect Sprint to out beat Verizon with the BlackBerry Pearl 2? Ah, never mind. They got the Palm Centro…
Thanks, Omie!
UPDATE: We just got word from one of our Verizon ninjas, and they’ve informed us that the BlackBerry Pearl 2 release date on Verizon is in November. This leads us to believe that the images will be revealed on the teaser site in 4 days, perhaps?

I hate verizon. :/ sprint too….

Any word on when it will be coming to T-Mobile? Can’t stand Verizon, wouldn’t even consider Sprint, and the horrors of ATT scare me. Love the Pearl, love T-Mobile. Pearl 2 would be the icing on the cake.

ahhh…Verizon is joining the rest in the never ending game of hype.
Fine by me as long as they produce uncrippled goods.
Could this be the end of the, “Verizon always gets that crappiest/oldest phones” mantra?

I think a speck of love for Verizon Wireless just entered my heart.
Are they actually doing something right?
Its almost too good to be true.
I can’t wait until Wednesday!

Don’t expect the phones to be released anytime soon. There will only be an unveiling of the phones on Wednesday. The hype will last for a couple months with the release in November or December. This is the beginning of the marketing campaign similar to what Apple did for the Iphone. I’m just surprised the LG vx10000 is not being unveiled by itself. Regardless, next Wednesday will be a historic day.

very much agreed.

I love Verizon, but this seems to good to be true. They have to hype it up first, plus my LG rep said the vx10000 comes out in December.

Let me know how the gps works on the Verizon Pearl. I’ll wait 30 days to get my uncrippled Pearl.

I want I on TMO. Any thoughts on when TMO will get it? My Curve comes in Wednesday so if I have to I will take it back and wait for the Pearl.

Lets wait and see how Verizon totally screws up and cripples the interface and the functionality.
I love there service, but there crippling and gui which could be considered one in the same is just highway robbery. And lets not forget the familiar
comment, no one is forcing you to go with verizon.
AT&T is not bad, the iphone is not bad just has a long way to go before its honestly more impressionable, had it tried it , in order to do what I wanted I would have to hack/unlock it and than sweat bullets on upgrades . Have the BB8820 and like it allot so far the wifi is great and GPS functionality is there fully also.
Now if I could get internet radio to work I’d be allot happier.

I expect the gps to be crippled so they can sell youi verizon naviagator and ths GSM sim card slot to be lock an tha you have to fight throgh hell to get the unlock code for it.

NOVEMBER! I must say who ever is pulling the trigger for phone releases at Verizon needs to be FIRED. First off the Pearl is just old news, no matter if it’s the Pearl 2 or not, it’s still old news! Drop a Curve already! And the LG
VX8800 is old news also, HELLO sprint has had the Mogul for about 3 months now, and at&t is droppin the Tilt in a few weeks! What I’m saying is that Verizon is so late to the dance these days. They’d have a shot at redemption if they would drop a Black CDMA Curve around the holidays, now that would be something worth talking about!

I wouldn’t count on it.

wow sean…it’s tough to make you happy, huh? These releases are exactly what Verizon needs. Consumer devices that will put an end to the porting to other carriers that offer highly functional consumer phones, ie. the iPhone, Sidekick, Helio, etc.
While you may break the mold, for the most part WM6 devices and smartphones in general are for the corporate world. Those folks are not early adopters and they will wait for a stable and secure platform whenever Verizon decides to release it.
The Pearl and LGs that are slated will really draw some attention and it’s exactly what verizon needs to draw some attention to its stagnant “dumb phone” lineup.

Not a lover or a basher of any particular carrier… i think in one way or another they all have there problems it just relies on comfort for each individual, but for those with verizon or that may be thinking of it switching to vzw this is a possibly huge moment… but someone please inform Sean76 that the vx8800 can’t be old news cuz its a brand new phone and is an lg also… meaning the fact that the mogul is out and tilt are coming actually mean squat in this discussion cuz those are higher end pocket pcs when the 8800 is just the newest version of the chocolate series

Can someone please ask sean how is the 8800 old news. From my knowledge we just recently learn about the 8800 and 10000, some months ago and for verizon to be lauching them this soon is a big step. Im not saying that they are going to be bad or excellent phones cause we have not tested them yet. Everyone does not want a Idiot Phone or a smart phone. So for them to beef up their dumb phone line up makes me happy. Im on Ominx side for this one.

I think what the website is saying (possibly) is that the countdown is for the first phone up there on the list (Moto Z6tv) in four days? I may be wrong. But its set to drop around then.

Despite the Pearl 2 news, I’m seriously considering moving to t-mo when my vzw contract comes up for the following reasons:
1. Sick of the lock down of all vzw’s phones.
2. Tired of watching new phones come out that never end up with vzw. And if the “new” phone does come onto the vzw network, it’s usually a year or two AFTER it debuted.
3. vzw has to put their ugly OS on the phone — it’s getting old.
4. vzw’s non-java supported wap internet service provides a sub-par internet experience because you cannot access many websites due to lack of java support. I also think vzw blocks wap access to a certain blogging website.
It’s too bad since I’ve been with vzw for a long time.
I’ve actually stated the above to vzw a few times with their customer surveys (that vzw solicited, I didn’t go to them). I don’t think they’re listening.

This pre-pre-pre-announcement crap drives me crazy. Unless you’re Apple, nobody gives a shit about your announcements and hype. Just put the thing out there so I can buy it.
