T-Mobile makes Sidekick LX, and Sidekick Slide official!

Not that we didn’t have our suspicions already, heck, we even knew the Sidekick LX would be coming in multiple colors, but whoa! The Sidekick Slide announcement came out of left field! You might remember the Sidekick Slide from our intimate hands-on session a little while back. Something we knew but couldn’t share, was that the Sidekick LX’s fantastic high-resolution LCD screen actually is a Sharp Aquos LCD. Nice! All around the Sidekick LX seems to be more polished, a tad bit thinner (we’re talking almost the exact same size as the Sidekick 3 here), but who are we kidding…the big thing for T-Mobile Sidekick users is finally the addition of MMS. Believe you me, people were revolting for it! We can expect the same great and easy to use OS that know and love on both the Sidekick Slide, and the Sidekick LX. A whole list of improvements, specs and other important info is after the jump, but to sum it up; both devices are quad-band, they both have 1.3 megapixel cameras (the LX has a flash), both have MMS/SMS/IM, web browser, and of course, the Sidekick t-mail address. The Sidekick LX will be available for current T-Mobile subscribers on October 17th, and for new users on October 24th for $299 with a 2-year agreement. The Sidekick Slide will be available November 7th for $199 with a 2-year agreement. Everything you need to know, including more press shots after the break!

    >All I want to know is if I will FOR SURE be able to upgrade to the LX at no cost to me as I have been a t-mobile customer for 4yrs & a SK user for 2.(currently have an sk3)

Sorry Jeremy, but T-Mobile has never offered free upgrades to their existing Sidekick customers, and they’re unlikely to start now. (I’ve upgraded from the black and white original to the color Sidekick, the Sidekick 2 and the Sidekick 3, and I consider this model definitely worth upgrading to, though I’m annoyed it doesn’t shoot video.)

AGGHHHHH NO VIDEO??? Comeon, if Helio can fit a 3.0 Megapixel camera in a phone that’s suppose to be slimmer than a razr why can’t they just throw it in and add video support, and what’s the point of having a HD screen and you can’t even view video clips or youtube or anything, or wifi I mean common I’m just gonna get rid of T-mobile and re-activate my ocean since it has wayyyy more than this poop colored Sidekick® LX, extremely disapointing, it still uses edge wtfffffffffffffffff

Doodoo… now I know why they don’t call it the sidekick 4. Its not a real freaking new device and hardly a upgrade!! MMS has been available for the sidekick on other carriers for a long time now. Only now TMobile USA is makin a move, plus a 1.3 camera??? the camera on the 3 was 1.3 and crappy as hell to begin with! I hope they using a new camera module at least so that picture quality is improved, I dont need a 7 megapixel on it and would be happy with 1.3 if it at least the quality was decent enough to use. … Does the device even allow video recording for mms? If not it defeats the purpose of having mms really.

I agree that the hi-def screen is a plus because no other phone in the states are using this types of screens, but again, very minor upgrades over sk3,no wi-fi?,this would have been perfect for hotspot@home,as the sidkick series has to be t-mobile most popular phones ever, that could have gotten a lot of customers to purchase the service, way to drop the ball t-mobile.

What do you people don’t get? The 1.3mp camera for the sk3 doesn’t suck… its because the SK3 has such a low-res screen it shows badly.. if you had a 1.3mp camera on any other phone, because it has a better quality screen it would look better… The SK-LX now has a high-res screen so the 1.3 (with new flash), its gonna look real great…

The sidekick isn’t a smart phone, who needs Wi-fi? there is nothign wrong with the browser now, its gonna be faster with better java script, thats good enough to anyone.

I love the new SK look, im def gonna buy… Its worth it!… who the fuck would want a touch screen on the sidekick anyway? it’s just stupid. Who knows there might be a video app comming soon, with the high res screen you never know.

So the blackberry may have video, however Danger is not being sued, danger is not having massive outages, danger IS the most stable OS, danger + Sharp = success. Patience is a virtue and danger and Sharp will do what it takes to ensure the satisfaction of their customers and the quality of their product is as close to 100% as possible. I have had BBerry’s in the past and all of them I have had to turn in and get a different phone because of all the outages and not being able to use ALL the features the BBerry has. So please make sure you know all of the facts and make a valid statement so that you don’t look like and idiot.

Well,it looks like all the sk fanboys are out today, huh?,first don’t ever compare blackberrys os to your fisher price “my first blackberry” os,I’ve had a bb for years and never had a promblem,u must feel good owning a device shared by highschools kids everywhere, while have a sophisticates business device used by fortune 500 ceo’s,as far as apps go they get disabled by carriers not rim,and you need wi-fi for t-mo’s slow as network, how does it feel being assfucked bt t-mo for a shitty upgrade to a shitty ass phone

Ok so I have some questions

    1) I already reserved my LX in Chicago at the store that will be selling them the 17th. But i heard that you can only upgrade if you have a sidekick 3. Im already a tmobile customer and im eligible for an upgrade so on the 17th can go get my lx?

    2) I went to the tmobile site (the LX is on there) and I compared the sk3 and the LX and it said that the LX has T-MobileWeb and that the sk3 doesn’t. What does this mean because I know both have internet but what do they mean by T-MobileWeb ?
