T-Mobile makes Sidekick LX, and Sidekick Slide official!
Not that we didn’t have our suspicions already, heck, we even knew the Sidekick LX would be coming in multiple colors, but whoa! The Sidekick Slide announcement came out of left field! You might remember the Sidekick Slide from our intimate hands-on session a little while back. Something we knew but couldn’t share, was that the Sidekick LX’s fantastic high-resolution LCD screen actually is a Sharp Aquos LCD. Nice! All around the Sidekick LX seems to be more polished, a tad bit thinner (we’re talking almost the exact same size as the Sidekick 3 here), but who are we kidding…the big thing for T-Mobile Sidekick users is finally the addition of MMS. Believe you me, people were revolting for it! We can expect the same great and easy to use OS that know and love on both the Sidekick Slide, and the Sidekick LX. A whole list of improvements, specs and other important info is after the jump, but to sum it up; both devices are quad-band, they both have 1.3 megapixel cameras (the LX has a flash), both have MMS/SMS/IM, web browser, and of course, the Sidekick t-mail address. The Sidekick LX will be available for current T-Mobile subscribers on October 17th, and for new users on October 24th for $299 with a 2-year agreement. T-Mobile Sidekick LX (Price $299 with a two-year contract): With a number of enhancements of its predecessors – requested by those that live, breath and love Sidekick – the Sidekick LX boasts a thin, clean profile design, a large WQVGA screen that incorporates high-definition Sharp Aquos LCD technology, a camera with flash, enhanced media capabilities and mood lights that light-up with definable alerts for various communication functions. Featuring the iconic swivel screen that differentiates a Sidekick from all other handsets, the Sidekick LX will come in a midnight blue or espresso brown finish.

Availability
The T-Mobile Sidekick LX will be available first to T-Mobile customers on October 17th and will be widely available on October 24th at select T-Mobile retail stores and online at www.t-mobile.com. The T-Mobile Sidekick Slide will be available November 7th.

To William’s Comment, I am a dealer for T-mobile, from what we understand, it is going to be available at select stores on the 17th, and nationwide on the 24th. So keep checkin’ it out. Sidekick.com will have some more info sometime the morning of Sept 26th. Can’t wait myself for the phone.

The LX is nice, but still not enough upgrades for me to get another Sidekick. Current owner of a SK3, and they need to add video support, and WiFi. I have bad data service where I live, and the Wi-Fi would make a huge difference. I know we can’t ask for everything, but GPS would be nice too (will never happen, always a step behind). I will be waiting for the HTC Kaiser or HTC Juno from TMo.

those features are beyond disappointing… all they added on that LX was a bigger screen and some MMS?! LMAO… Boy am I glad I got the Blackberry Curve instead of waiting for these POS’s to drop. The Curve sh*ts on these Sidekicks 100x over.
and LMAO @ a brown Sidekick… of all the colors to choose in the world, they picked BROWN. HAHA…

If they had made the brown a nice dark brown with a shine, that would make it more attractive.
I like the idea of using the color brown on devices, but not when it makes the device look like poo. :-/

I own a sk3 & luv it, and a must say that I was hoping for more out of the LX. No video, no gps, no wifi, & only a 1.3mp camera… c’mon guys at least step it up to a 2.0mp on the camera. I’m not predicting huge sales for either phone… just my opinion… what do you think???
