I had iPhone and went back to Treo 750 and never regretted one bit. iPhone has a good browser (without 3G support and no flash). EDGE connection is pathetic at best and I can use my laptop with WIFI at home so why do I need iPhone for that. Why do I need Google Maps without GPS? No Instant messaging on the iPhone either and the phone suck.

I upgraded my Treo 750 to Windows Mobile 6 (that supports HTML email), upgraded browser to Opera 8.65 which is awesome and supports flash, have 3G internet connection that flies, Instant Messaging, MMS, and it plays MP3 and Videos. I also got it unlocked in one day from AT&T. Not to mention that I can open and edit attachments as well as email files. All things iPhone cannot do.

I will never get an iPhone and be subjected to Apple rules that make no sense. Apple has become very unfriendly company and I will not buy their products. I should not have to ask permission to install applications on MY device or to unlock MY device which is not even subsidized.

Pat Torney: not quite the same at&t. Check out first three paragraphs of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cingular and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT%26T_Wireless_Services.

Basically, Cingular was a subsidiary company of SBC and BellSouth (two Baby Bells). Cingular bought AT&T Wireless; SBC bought BellSouth and then AT&T which effectively brought Cingular 100% under the SBC umbrella. Then SBC renamed themselves the new at&t.

So now you have the newly named at&t owning the newly named at&t Mobility.

Let me get this straight. The iphone was only $100 cheaper than the N95 when it came out.
iPhone Pros:

iPhone Cons:
*locked out to one carrier
*beg Apple over an internet connection to activate
*No 3G
*not a smartphone
N95 Pros:
#3G
#smartphone
#unlocked
#GPS
#stereo bluetooth
#over-the-air upgrades
N95 cons:
*Only upgradable to a little over 4GB
*no safari

Talk about browser on N95, wouldn’t Opera Mini work? I have been using it on a S40 nokia device for a while and am very happy about it. I like it over IE running on my Tmobile MDA.

I thought we crossed this bridge already. I can’t believe we are still taking sides with the iphone or the n95. The iphone is awesome and so is the n95. They both need to be subsidized so the price could get closer to affordable though. The iphone sucks as a camera but the n95 sucks as far as the browser is concerned. The iphone is an awesome mp3 player and its the best ipod as Jobs said, but the n95 is pretty damn durable in comparison. The other short coming with the iphone is it’s lack of bluetooth connectivity beyond the headset, but hey the n95 and every other phone would have been awesome if they had multi touch. Now with the facts restated and the obvious short comings of both these awesome devices pointed out let’s stop the pointless arguments until these corporations release a phone without restrictions and compromise. Something like an 8320 with gps, wifi, safari, unrestricted bluetooth and a 5mp or better camera. Now that would be worth what nokia is presently asking people to pay for this phone (n95).

Nokia is overpricing their phones…no doubt. The iPhone really isn’t impressive in regard to features though. It is the UI that is impressive. The N95 and the E-series devices are stuffed full of features but just don’t have the UI like the iPhone to make it fun to take advantage of them.

I’ve been looking for the ultimate companion device for a long long time since the sidekick 2 and then went to the SK 3 bb pearl, helio ocean and fin, now the iphone!!! I actually don’t mind edge on the iphone too much when it’s in a good coverage area because 3g internet can kill a phone like my helios. Those things lasted maybe a few hours!!!

I haven’t even paid the first bill on the iphone yet, and I’m very in the n95. The killer for me is the price and I think 40 dollar monthly fee to get data through att!

I mean this is a good phone, it is nowhere near a smartphone and Nokia has been overpricing their phones since like forever so technically we can’t compare this to an iPhone since it’s not in the same class. Just to say a lil’ somethin’ somethin’.

Furthermore, to continue my rant, which was a thought not finished… why would you need 3G if you don’t have a phone powerful enough, or with powerful enough software to USE it?!?!?! OMG thats a novel concept. Yes, the iphone is not 3G and its fine with edge. 3G is coming. But those of you who think at $750 this is a steal are being robbed. You people are so dumb. I had a iphone, went back to BB, and now back on the iphone, I’ve used every hot phone thats been out, blackjack, curve, 8800, e61, etc… they all pale in comparison to the iphone, its power, and el jobso.

First… obviously there is no CDMA version, CDMA is dying, as mentioned earlier on this very blog. Any idiots still using verizon and loving their awesome service are delusional. (try using your phone anywhere but here, in maybe… A GLOBAL MARKET) Why would a phone company limit their market, its just bad business.

Secondly, and more importantly… this phone is not worth $750! Its worse than the iPhone, which you can now get for $400 & almost double the price. You might be saying “But, but, oh its got 3g and its not made by apple I hate apple and i cry about how awesome there stuff is!!!11one1″ and you are a fool. The killer app of the iPhone is Safari, until any of you fools get a clue, you will not realize that browsing using the terrible nokia browser or ie mobile is a joke. /end rant

Gal brought up the identity crisis and i can’t help but comment.

There is no real identity crisis for AT&T. They were forced to break off the wireless portion of the business by the Federal government for anti-trust reasons, which became it’s own AT&T wireless entity. AT&T wireless was sold to cingular and now repurchased by AT&T. Having not looked into it at all, it appears on its face to look like AT&T just found a back door way to make the wireless portion of the business once again a part of the parent AT&T.

Like I said, I don’t know for sure but it just seems you have this summary:
AT&T forced to break away from wireless portion, wireless portion sold to Cingular, AT&T repurchases the wireless portion under AT&T.

The phone is much better, tighter slide and better fitting screen. You can buy it also at Mobile City downtown, NYC.
