BlackBerry BIS outage again?

What’s that sound? Right, it’s hundreds of thousands of BlackBerry users left without immediate access to their Gmail, Yahoo!, and other BIS accounts. The current outage, which has been confirmed by RIM, is affecting all BIS users, regardless of carrier. It is not affect blackberry.net addresses. There is no estimated time of the fix, and no specifics have been been given. Other services possibly effected are web browsing and any 3rd party applications that require access to the handheld’s data connection. Forgive us for this one, but RIM: COME ON! This is the third major outage in 5 months, an outage Berry users are becoming all too accustomed to. We’ll save the rant for another day, but BlackBerry has long been heralded as a bastion of reliability and stable service. At the very least we would appreciate some sort of statement from RIM.Start venting……now.

RIM is suffering from popularity. As more and more people come on board with BB, their limited servers can not handle the load. Time to start beefing up your infrastructure boys, otherwise any gain they make will drop right in the toilet.

I am surprised that no one was reporting that AT&T had a BlackBerry data outage this morning. I have a couple of emails from our rep that confirmed the nationwide outage. But that was a AT&T only issue, no other carriers effected. Not sure if this is the issue reported here.

This is exactly why I think RIM should support industry standard email/web/MMS connectivity over GPRS/EDGE for people (like me) with regular data plans who are not interested in using push email, not to mention as a backup when their servers go down.

You know, I thought there was a problem about 3:30PM EST, and I thought to write this one in, but hesitated when it came back around 5:00PM. Guess I was right, another RIM outage.

It actually seemed to go down a few times today here in Atlanta. I have groups of messages at two or three different times even though the actual “sent” times are all different.

Mine was down for a couple of hours last evening. But yes, I had a pretty good idea what had happened when I got the email on my desktop, but not on the BlackBerry. Oh well. At least it’s back up.

I noticed the outage. I was wondering why I didn’t have any new email. I logged into BIS and resent my service books. All email is coming through fine now. I’m on AT&T

This is just a lil’ BS, BGR you should check the facts just a slight bit better as it was NOT a complete BIS outage, it revolved around mostly AOL accounts and was AOL’s issue NOT research in motions.

Yeah, this sucks. I know exactly when it stopped working for me. I was on JiveTalk and then BOOM…nothing worked. Still isn’t working. No web, no JiveTalk (aaaaah!), no nothing. This is seriously pissing me off. **And my rant is complete** (not much of a rant, huh?)
