New version of Gmail?

Beans to Google for thinking of using its own users for translation help. It saves them money, and gives beta folks a true feeling that they’re helping. The end result is a better translation by people who truly speak the language. The downside, of course, is that if you show a bunch of people your new goodies for translation, someone’s likely to speak up when something cool hits their desktop. While there are virtually zero details, a "newer version" of the Gmail user interface is being explored. Could it mean folders? Skins? Here’s a better question…what should it have?

Gmail’s Gchat should get an upgrade. Perhaps providing an application for us sidekick users so we can use it instead of the computer.

I would love the idea of Folders on Gmail. But I wouldn’t want to the folders to change the amazing interface, and the awesome grouping of the emails. The sorting style of the emails is what made me fall in love with Gmail!!!

POP should give me an option to function similarly to Yahoo’s POP. If my phone gets my email it simply marks it as read. Not removes it out of the Inbox. If not at least give me the option to start Gmail in my All Mail folder. Second is that if I do use my phone to get my mail, Thunderbird on my desktop should still be able to get that same mail. And most importantly, I want to be able to disable the downloading of Sent mail (mainly because of my phone’s (the iPhone) inability to sort it.

As most people will comment a smoother web 2.0 setup so it can do more. Combine a single ui for their major services, photo, calendar and rss feed. Maybe all of the others too.

I agree with not receiving my sent emails as new messages – I send a lot of mail through my phone and it gets burdensome.

I agree with victor. Maybe even a corner with the most viewed youtube videos.

Sort! So I can quickly group all the emails when I’m looking for something in particular & searching doesn’t really cut it.

I have it on one of my gmail accounts, but so far I see absolutely nothing different. Weird.
