Motorola Q9h, and HTC TyTN II launch on Rogers imminent?
We’ve just received word that Rogers in Canada is gearing up to launch the Motorola Q9h in the very near future. Promo materials have already started being distributed and they are getting ready "for a large marketing campaign pushing Windows Mobile devices." Additionally, it looks like Rogers is going to grab the HTC TyTN II as well, as promo materials have also been spotted for this handset. The rumored drop date for the Motorol Q9h was today, but as our informant says, "their dates are always fluid." Pricing should start at $249.99 with a 3-year agreement for the Motorola Q9h.
Who cares – The first Q sucked and the 2nd isnt that much better. Blackberry all the way !

Is Rogers associated with att in any way or did some guys just jack a bunch of att trucks, rebrand the phone, and are going to sell them with Rogers in Canada?
rogers is/was an att affiliate it used to be called Rogers/ATT..but then rogers bought them fully out, although somewhere in a back room remains a contract with ATT, but besides that even if Rogers does get the devices, it still does NOTHING for their horrendous data plans, BB data and PDA data plans, TERRIBLE, example: base BB data plan $25-1MB data BIS only pfft, where ATT has Unlim data and BIS for $29.99 and T-Mobs $19.99 email only plan…USA kills canada is plans.

The word “Kaiser” just like “Bigfoot” is a myth in the USA
I understand that the Rogers version of the Kaiser will not have a front cam but it should be out very soon according to one source of mine. He also says that pricing will not be too over the top.
I beg to differ Halhoff. I’m pretty certain it will be a Vision phone and be sportin’ a front cam. Roger’s big push right now is to get more Vision phones out the door, so why would they pass up this great chance at a WinMo device – again, they did it with the TyTn already.
In regards to the data plans, lets take a quick look at population and population density and the area of Canada compared to the US

Canada has just over 1/10th the population of the US and the GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA network has to span an area close to the same size as the US, a little bit smaller since they’re not in the Territories. It’s no wonder the US can charge less then in Canada, since the carriers have 10 times the population to pay for these networks.

64% of our population live in large urban centers, and the majority live in 4 broad urban areas.
UMTS (according to the Economist) offers carriers over 10x the bandwidth, which means delivering service via UMTS is many times cheaper than it was with 1st gen GSM or EDGE. And that’s not taking into account the even larger bandwidth offered by HSDPA.
Plus Rogers is the only GSM provider in Canada. They own the only other GSM option, Fido.
That’s a fair comment, but the Rogers network in particular covers 94% of the Canadian population, which means it has to span large low population areas of the country to make up the other 30%.
Secondly, HSDPA might use the spectrum more efficiently, but the cost to deploy HSDPA is very high… and it’s not deployed everywhere. As a matter of fact, today it’s only available in the Toronto area.
I wouldn’t hold my breath hoping for the tytn ii to launch any day on Rogers. Maybe it will, but it’s likely coming out to at&t soon too, so it’s really anyone’s guess which company will get it out first. You can get the unbranded one from resellers already, and sooner or later the at&t one will be out.
The irony would be great if it came out to Rogers before at&t, but I’d be surprised. Nice to hear that it should be coming though
i would be very surprised if the tytn II on Rogers did not come out with the front cam. i purchased the tytn II 3 weeks ago online and the phone is amazing. hooked it up on Fido and everything works except the video calling. need 3g network for that feature. everything else works great including the built in gps which gets the signal in seconds.

I do hope Rogers carries this phone. It is on my short list for sure. Although, I’m now thinking I may just buy an unlocked phone … I hate the 3 year contract stuff just to save a couple hundred bucks.
A week later and still nothing announced for either phone. Doesn’t seem like the “imminent” release is happening for either phone. Too bad as I’ve really been looking forward to getting the HTC
For those who want he TYTN II, just buy a HTC branded one which is unlocked. There are a lot of forums with “how to’s” to make work with your provider.
The TYTN II does work on Rogers and have even picked up traces of the 3g network they are testing (reaally fast!!) in the area.
Honestly people, the phone will be at least $599 on a 3 year probably add a hundred for a 2 year. buy the phone from http://www.superiorgadgets.com/ and enjoy a unlocked unit that gets direct support through HTC. Also haveing a unlocked, unbranded unit bodes well for your resale..(if your crazy!)

Picked mine up online for about 800. Figured it was better than waiting for Rogers to get off their butts and release it. Great phone for anyone who is considering it.
