Samsung SGH-i640 coming soon

Samsung’s having quite the week, aren’t they? The most recent Sammy handset to show its face is this bad boy right here. This phone has already been announced by Vodafone, but had yet to show its face by way of Samsung themselves. The Samsung SGH-i640 is an upgraded version of the SGH-i620. It sports an impressive feature set, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Windows Mobile 6 Standard, UMTS/HSDPA, 2 megapixel camera, and much more. The i640, much like it’s younger brother, features an innovative slide-out QWERTY keyboard that unveils Samsung’s trademark too-small keys at the flick of a finger. Seriously, guys, is it too much to ask for a bit of a keyboard redesign and having the keyboard register fast key presses? Key concerns aside, this looks to be a worthy successor to the ailing Samsung i620. The only problem, of course, is that it’s Europe only right now. Sorry guys.

Yea that keyboard is absolutely the most unresponsive keyboard on a phone I have ever used. My Blackjack doesn’t register the “T” key most of the time or the “E/R” keys so words like “the” come out to be “h” or “he.” It really is annoying, I just don’t see why they can’t make a keyboard that works right and is nice to use…like that curve you guys are giving away.

Huh? Huh? I’m available to give it a loving home.

I’m wondering when Samsung will start producing some equivelant phones for the US? They keep releasing these power-packed phones overseas and we’re still left with the same old stuff here. How about a WiFi, 3G, GPS, Quad band GSM, QWERTY phone for those of us in the Us of A?

Hello, Samsung? Is this thing On?

Jeff B, any chance you have a bad BlackJack or maybe Samsung perfomed updates after yours was manufactured.

I’ve had my BlackJack since July and the keys are very responsive. After using an 8525, I’ve come to realize this keyboard aint so bad. Just wish the device had a more powerful cpu and gpu.
