Meritline dot com doesn’t sell individual inks anymore. a few months ago I switched over to a continuous ink system” it’s really cool and I always have ink. Cost about $100 and the ink seems to last forever. Google it and you will find it…Meritline was selling them for the 580 but I am not sure if they still do.

As for the DVDs I am using printable DVDs…I do not sure labels…and I never will “anymore” they warp the DVDs and they won’t play after some time.

Hey Eric; tell me a bit more about this MeritLine, and how I can save money on ink for my Epson RX580; do you use printable cd/dvd’s or do you place the labels on the cd’s first then print on them? If you can’t tell, I have never used the cd printer on my Epson.

I think I will stick to Lightscribe. Although color is a nice thing to have for cd’s, I personally like the look of lightscribe.

Also lightscribe never runs out like ink does, nor does the image peal or fade or scratch off. The downfall I do have is the speed, for very detailed images it can take from 1-25min which can add up when you have 20+ cds to burn.

What do you think you are going to pay for ink each set here?

I don’t buy epson ink, I get mine from meritline and the cost of 6 inks(1 set) goes down to about $20.

You can’t tell the difference between the inks either.

I’m buying one for sure ! Much better than the Epson printers – ya you can buy a RX580 for $99 – and spend $60-$70 for ink each time you buy a new set. Not much savings …

If it’s ink jet- you still have to buy ink-jet printable discs. Modurn Languaj Asosiashun (our indie hip hop label)has been using thermal printing– which is awesome– just costly and you can’t cover the entire disc, nor can you use multi-colors with our printer.

I have been printing labels that look professional for a long time. I used to use lightscribe, but now my epson RX580 all in one prints on labels.

Now you can get the RX580 for $99 and shipping is free on epsons site.

This shoots my lightscribe (which totally suck like you need special discs and all this bullcrap, don’t buy one just don’t) in the face.

How is it uncool? It is in the license of the iphone (and any other phone) that you can’t do that. I don’t care what phone it is … if you flash an unsupported firmware to it, it will instantly void your warranty and make it not eligable for returns. So how is this different? We live with it on every other phone, but because it is iPhone all of a sudden it is stupid? Give me a break.
