Apple and T-Mobile announce iPhone for Germany

That didn’t take long, did it? After Apple and O2 announced a UK partnership yesterday to bring the iPhone to the United Kingdom, it only makes sense that we’d see more European launch plans. Announced this morning, the iPhone will exclusively be available through T-Mobile Germany, with availibility on the same day as the UK, November 9th. “We are convinced that we can get our customers excited about experiencing the mobile internet with the iPhone,” said Hamid Akhavan, CEO, T-Mobile International. “I am proud that Apple and T-Mobile have become partners. The best mobile device currently on the market will soon be operating on the best network in the country.” iPhone will debut for €399 including V.A.T., and requires a new 2-year tariff. Visual Voicemail, and the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store will all be available at launch. I guess we can expect Orange in France to announce their partnership tomorrow?

Why couldn’t T-Mo USA get in on the action?
Regardless, if it’s not a blackberry, I don’t want it. The visual voicemail would be a nice feature to have though

I do wonder what would happen if you purchase an iphone in germany and then take it to the states and put your t-mobile US sim in it, will it work?
I think it probably will since it’s the same network.
what do you think?

Nope, very locked to the T-mob europe network. So you could get one, but you would still have to unlock it to the T-mob usa service, like the ATT/Cinglar/Apple one.
