AT&T flubs BlackBerry 8820 launch, BlackBerry 8310 heads to AT&T on October 4th

If you’re like us, you resent the fact that the BlackBerry 8800-toting public still has built-in GPS while your BlackBerry Curve must make use on a Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver. Well, screw that! We’ve confirmed that the BlackBerry Curve 8310 (GPS) will be heading to big Blue Orange on October 4th. Even more shocking? The color variations. T-Mobile isn’t the only kid on the block rockin’ colored BlackBerrys, because AT&T is getting a titanium, and red! The BlackBerry Curve 8310 will effectively replace the current BlackBerry Curve on AT&T. Good riddance, and hello GPS! In other news, the expected launch date for the BlackBerry 8820, as you can see above in our exclusively obtained internal road map, was September 13th. Oh well.

Wow, what a surprise!! Well maybe they will release it soon.

I am waiting for the T-Mo titanium curve to come out next week. But I have seen a picture of the red casing and its hot. I am already envious. dang it. But not color could make me switch back to AT&T.

Now we are talking. Oct 4th is only a few weeks away.

So… still no gps on the T-mo Curve? anyone, anyone??

They don’t have enough space to fit a GPS receiver, WIFI and a camera under the small casing of the curve. Well at least that was what I saw earlier in the discussion about the Curve with all the bells and whistles.

Ok, I hate to have to go over the same things over and over again, but could we please get a little clarification BG??? So, if T-Mobile is to be getting the Curve 8320 in a week (9/24/07) and AT&T is to get this Curve 8310 on 10/04/07, then we is the papa bear (8330) edtion going to come out? I mean, it sounds like Tmo will get wifi, but no GPS. And AT&T will get GPS and no wifi… is that correct? Will there even be an 8330??? Come on BG, need to know things… Thanks!!! :]

I saw a pic of the Red housing on blackberryforums a while ago. It looked nice, too bad I just bought an unlocked rogers 8310. At least I can unload my 8300 for a good price before the 8310 hits AT&T and pick up the housing later!

Is anyone else thinking what I’m thinking? … TPTB at AT&T know that business folks and consumers alike are awaiting the 8820. But instead, AT&T is really trying to push the iPhone, which BlackBerry users won’t touch. My opinion is that AT&T is withholding the 8820 just as women withhold sex: it’s a power thing to make us do what they (both AT&T and women) want us to do. Right now, we know that the 8820 exists, but I daresay its presence on AT&T will be rather vaporous while they try to push ahead the iPhone.
AT&T, try as you might, I still have my right hand (8700g), so withholding sex (the 8820) is stupid when I can alleviate myself. Just something to consider: I’d leave my wife (T-Mobile) for good sex (8820). So the longer you withhold sex, the longer I withhold my money, business, and contractual service.
Hey … Sex sells … So hopefully I can convince AT&T to give me what I want by using sexual metaphors … =-)

Thanks for the clarification guys. I’m still new to the blackberry game and feel like the little kid on the play ground still trying to learn the ropes… Thanks for not hating and the good info… Trust me, I am now a new avid BGR reader!!! :]

Thats got to be the most messed up way to discribe the situation….. I like it!

@ Lost in Translation
It is messed up, I agree, but it’s also very apt.
To BlackBerry users, the iPhone is like an ugly biker chick smoking a cigarette in its hand, coughing and hacking, deeper voice than God, and boobs that hang so low you could tie them in a pretty little bow twice over. While some people find that titilating, the iPhone doesn’t scream sex.
The 8820 is like Cindy Crawford, Tricia Helfer, and Ali Larter all rolled into one: it has class, form (but admittedly, not as curvy and vivacious as the Curve), looks and brains, GPS (and show me a woman who doesn’t just love to tell a man how to drive!), and screams sex beyond sex.
The 8820 is like a cowgirl that slides along the dance floor like floating on air, leans up close to your lips, and whispers firtatiously in your ear, “Hey there, cowboy, how about you come play with me and my cousin (the 8800) here?” Talking about sex … A threesime with cousins? Hot!
Hence, when I say AT&T is withholding sex, I meant it … Which would you rather have? The ugly biker chick or the hot model? AT&T is hoping we’ll all settle on the former. *shiver*
(Note to readers without a sense of humour: get one…)

wooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooow. That was really f**ked up and yet I would like it if you left another one that everybody can feast their brains on with the idea of a threesome with cousins….sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet….still lingering in their brains.
Thank you!!!
Besides if you have an 8800 then rejoice because the guy at att I just talked to said wait a week and they could most likely have it.
Now to go find some porn featuring, you guessed it, A THREESOME WITH COUSINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think they’ll make the 8820 available until the 8800 inventory is sold. I mean, why would anyone buy the 8800 when the 8820 is right next to it. Even if you don’t need WiFi, you’ll still get the device with an extra feature if it’s the same price.

you don’t even know what you’re talking about. there was no “flub” here. did you notice the “supersession” term???

Any chance of trading in the AT&T 8300 I just bought in Mid-July to get the GPS model?
