Textr brings threaded SMS to the Windows Mobile crowd

If you’ve been lusting over a threaded SMS applications for your Windows Mobile device, you might be in luck. While this has been implemented on the Treo 750, there are not too many other WinMo handsets that have gotten such functionality. Textr, a new program from Mykesoft, aims to bring the threaded experience to any and all who desire it. Textr is a pretty simple app that "catches" all of your incoming and outgoing SMS messages while roping them into a chat-like format. You can then select SMS conversations much like you would a tradition IM exchange. The program even allows you to assign images to the phone numbers that you’re exchanging messages with. It looks real clean. Textr will set you back $14.95, but you can hit the link for a 21 day free trial. Thread it up! Thread it up!

I installed this on my phone earlier today and was excited. For some reason everyone I know who has installed it get the error that the trial is already up and you cannot use it even to test it.

Also, it loads everytime you start your phone and is annoying, plus it slows things down and does not work with your normal texts, it is a separate application.

I hated the WM variations on the threaded sms. It adds an extra 30 sec to boot time, and it isn’t accessible through the system sms. Plus to way to import conversations. Very much needed, but from Microsoft, not a third party

I personally use PocketCM. It is a finger scrolling contact manager app, with threaded SMS…and best its freeware. He updates it all the time, so it just keeps better and better.

If you want to check it out…

This software is bloody awful. It takes about, what 6-10 mb of space? Please. PocketCM is much nicer & free.

They need a rewrite not using .Net.

yes this application is HORRIBLE. I tried using it on my 8125 today and i wound up uninstalling it after 10 minutes because i kept getting error messages about low storage memory. it chewed up my phone and spat it out. i’ll just keep waiting patiently for the cash to come in for a treo 750 OR a wm6 rom for my 8125 that has palm SMS threading hacked :)

There is a program called Palm Messaging for Windows Mobile that works flawlessly. Just Google it.
