First look at the MOTO ROKR W5

Spec sheets have been leaked for the new MOTO ROKR W5. They tell us it’s a quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) device with GPRS/EDGE, with a compact clamshell form-factor and 1.3 megapixel camera included. Of course it still includes everything else we have come to expect from Motorola: 20 MB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot,  miniUSB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 880 mAh Li-Ion battery. Now the orange on the phone has us wondering if this phone will be destined to go to the newly orange and blue network? Eh, it’s too low-end for them…

I’m not sure I understand the appeal of this phone. What’s the HUGE difference between this and the latter RAZRs? I’m not sure I get the point of the ROKR line now that the RAZR2 (and even some latter RAZR1) are so media-centric.

Being an owner of the ROKR E2 and ROKR E6 mobiles, I can safely say that this model, at best, is meant to be a lower end mobile for users that could not afford a ‘ROKR’ series handset otherwise. However, this does just look like a mock-up with a mix of the KRZR, with a RAZR2 keypad… This is most definitely NOT a must have. lol. Also, it appears to be running a yet-again updated version of the Synergy GUI… Just an observation.

this form factor is starting to annoy me. motorola have been using the same phone and calling it differently for the past years, I can see why people are confused with ROKR, RAZR, whatever… same crap, same crap, same crap. Motorola needs a different look.
