AT&T Tilt drops some knowledge on us

Even though we’re rockin’ the official HTC TyTN II, confirmed carrier offerings as always good. If there was any doubt in your mind that AT&T would be picking up the TyTN II, you can safely lay those worries to rest. Just as we all thought, AT&T will be picking up the version without a front camera. Why they do this is beyond us, especially since they have launched their Video Share feature. Regardless, it still makes us tingle to see some leaked docs on the device and what exactly it will be bringing to the table. On the email side, AT&T’s Tilt will offer Xpress Mail, Microsoft Direct Push (duh!), POP3/IMAP4, BlackBerry Connect 4.0 (we’re already using this and love it), and Good Mobile Messaging (available post-launch). The AT&T Tilt will also sport Push-to-talk, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.0. Our doc says "late September launch" not October, and the lowest you’ll snag the phone for is going to be $349.99 on a 2 year agreement with compatible data plan! Full slide, pricing, and compatible data plans after the jump!

Thanks, Jay L!

@Zoom Thank You for the kind word.

The only significant difference between the Tytn2/Kaiser/”tilt” and the 8925 is the front camera, right? There are software differences, which presumably can be easily user-modified. Am I right about this?

I think so, from what I have herd, no other hardware changes, but the best thing to do is when the ATT model comes out compare specs. I have herd that there will be a no camera version as well.

THe 8925 is supposed to not have a front cam or tomtom. the 8900 will have no camera at all.
    who knows anymore…
the kaiser has HTC touchflo – the ATT model will not – supposedly.
    it’s all a guess.

the tilt your world link is enticing. hard to fake that one. all very encouraging. i hold onto my hope that the device will be available before october 15th when i have to return this obsolete 8525. i will wait and see what is on it and how commissions for september pay to decide whether or not to buy the kaiser unlocked.
when the 8925 comes out – i expect the kaiser prices to drop. then i hack the sh1t out of it…

    Zoom says:

so – the phone was $640. you can buy one with nothing, no contract, no activation – nothing for $750 all day. not enough for me to sign for 2 years.
    thanks for that link, E-man.

Go on howards forum and you can see all the pics that they guys took of the “free” phones they got at the seminar. They got “unboxing” photos and operation photos. Also you CAN add Tom Toms on to it which one of the guys did. They said that the HTC trainer told them friday it would be on the site. As far as units in store they did not say. Also they show them now showing up in the warehouse stock.

Hi Zoom at al. Strange, the price for me at J&R appears as $830, not $750. I did email them asking for a closer price to the AT&T unlocked. Of course it makes sense for it to cost a little more since it has the front camera, but not so much more. Even $750 is too much, I’d prefer the AT&T unlocked, if it’s for real.

I wonder though. Does anybody know if Messenger on WM does videoconferencing with the front camera? That would me awesome.

All these prices in NYC are non-tax, so I need to add taxes to those prices, right? How much is that? Sorry for the ignorance, it’s just that I live in another continent.

    Zoom says:

    harry,

i owe you a beer. looks good for tomorrow and the big swap of 8525 to 8925. i like they called it the tilt instead of 8925 and 299 is fine. 2 years and this should last that long too.

    now –
does anyone know how to hack a tilt to make it a kaiser again? screw ATTs ROM. there has to be a way to get touchflo back. if you guys get one of these, find the “htc home customizer” that looks pretty close to touchflo. once i get this i’m off to XDA developers for more. SPB’s stuff is hot too.

still gonna see if there’s a kaiser out there for less – if i can wait that long… mebbe next week then.

I was already with at&t But my contract expired back in may so i extended another 2 years with AT&T. I swear i am not making this up.
