AT&T Tilt drops some knowledge on us

Even though we’re rockin’ the official HTC TyTN II, confirmed carrier offerings as always good. If there was any doubt in your mind that AT&T would be picking up the TyTN II, you can safely lay those worries to rest. Just as we all thought, AT&T will be picking up the version without a front camera. Why they do this is beyond us, especially since they have launched their Video Share feature. Regardless, it still makes us tingle to see some leaked docs on the device and what exactly it will be bringing to the table. On the email side, AT&T’s Tilt will offer Xpress Mail, Microsoft Direct Push (duh!), POP3/IMAP4, BlackBerry Connect 4.0 (we’re already using this and love it), and Good Mobile Messaging (available post-launch). The AT&T Tilt will also sport Push-to-talk, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.0. Our doc says "late September launch" not October, and the lowest you’ll snag the phone for is going to be $349.99 on a 2 year agreement with compatible data plan! Full slide, pricing, and compatible data plans after the jump!

Thanks, Jay L!

yeah the front side camera would have been great. And i wonder about the speaker issue that was mentioned in another post?

ATT needs some help with those Data prices too? 39.99 seems high.

But it looks like a great phone, their are some issues that have been stated but it certainly has all the toys you can want. -except front camera.

    Jeff B. – you happy?

Yeah, I kinda got spoiled by the Sidekick’s unlimited data AND unlimited messaging for $20. But so many cool bells and whistles on this. I’d be counting the days… if I had an actual release date to count down to.

BGR, any word on if the GPS is going to be free from telenav? I’m sure the xda devs will unlock it but it’d be nice to have it open without having to hack it.

Um, I thought I was up on terminology here, but what do they mean by “Tethering”?

Tethering = they allow you to connect your phone to your laptop to act as a wireless modem.

Tethering in this instance means to have the ability to use your mobile device as a modem for your computer.

Tethering is using the internet share function with your lap/desktop pc. I currently use this for my home internet and most times i am speeding at very respectable speeds.

I hope this is legitimate info for once.

    KCMatt says:

If you mean two-way video calls, AT&T doesn’t currently support that. Their “video share” is only one-way.

I think you can use any software you want on the 8925, you don’t have to pay for the telnav service. Can anyone tell if there is any other difference between the 8925 and the kaiser besides the loss of the front camera?

Adding the touch flow interface, I’m told, is dirt-simple to do afterwards — they’ve got it on the XV6700.

I work for AT&T and whoever was stupid enough not to make this a video share should get their ass beat, Video Share on this thing would be excellent

I am assuming they got rid of the front camera because they didnt put the Video Share feature on the phone.
    It’s not listed!

    Dtest5477 says:

no, all the kaiser videos i have not seen the touch flow on it.

and no, ATT doesnt have the live video but it would be nice. WM has it and it could be a big selling point for some. I know it would be for me, video chats and video calls.

One thing i see is that it doesnt look any thinner than the other HTC units at ATT, hoping to see then slim it down.

I might just bite the bullet and drop the $800 on the OEM unlocked version that has everything. Seems thats what the going rate is with these online retailers :(

I second that question about 8925 vs kaiser. My dilemma is to pay for an unlocked or not.

Also, I already have unlimited data w/ATT. Anyone know how ATT deals with re-contracts and there discounts on phones?

What does AT&T think? Why should we pay a $39.99 data while its only $20 for iphone (unlimited data) ??????
