HTC TyTN II/Tilt/Kaiser brings Bluetooth printing to the table
Well, well, well. What do we have here? It seems that HTC, not content with dropping the hottest and most anticipated Windows Mobile device this side of the planet, has decided to surprise everyone and drop in a hidden feature or two. A "Print via Bluetooth" option has been added to the Messaging menu. This will presumably allow users to print off an email, document, or other text by way of a nearby Bluetooth-enabled printer. Pretty gnarly! This would lead us to believe that the Windows Mobile 6 ROM that ships with the TyTN II, has a modified or updated Bluetooth stack that allows for OTA printing out of the box. To make things more interesting, chances are good that this isn’t the only feature yet to be uncovered. Now if only an American carrier would release the friggin’ thing…

Seriously, its taken them what? Waaaay too long to release this thing already.
yeah its been so long since it was announced
for ATT. I’ve heard there are three versions of
will be interesting to see which one they
release
I really don’t know what to think. I am really looking forward to the device but at the same time it is taking so long they might release an even cooler device soon. As for the printing link, it really doesn’t impress me it has also taken too long to have that come out to eventually (possibly) taken out of the program.
You can already print via BT on crackberrys vie 3rdparty apps like dynoplex
Bluetooth printing has been enabled for a lot of the hacked TyTn/8525 WM6 roms as well.
No biggie… my old e62 and n75 already do that.
You can print on the V9 and Z9 Moto’s already though…
Wonder if it works on the Q9 since it too is WM6?
Viruside,
WHEN DID THE Z9 COME OUT!?
This is cool. I can’t print on my blackjack
(hope WM6 upgrade enables it.) Now all I need is a Printer that can speak BT….
Sorry, it’s not out just yet. Heck it’s not even announced. Guess thats why we troll on sites like this for the latest news, right?
I LOVE MY KAISER!!!
@Randy
Hey if you want the Blackjack upgrade it’s here:
http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=255
But no guarantees it’s for the SGH-i607, I think it states that it’s for the SGH-i600 but it’s the same thing. The only thing is that the symbol key doesn’t work (freezes the phone) and I think they said something about the #key being vibe but that’s what it is now so who cares.
If you do it they have steps all the way and tell me how it goes , I just upgraded my phone from cingular branded WinMo5 to at&t branded WinMo5 but that was a Samsung recommended upgrade and this is a leaked version of the WinMo6 upgrade. (actually its from the Samsung Netherlands site and you have to change some stuff in the *#1546792*# settings but it should work) I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!! BG probably wore out the one he’s had for like 10 yrs now…
I can’t wait to get my hands on an unlocked one without getting raped in the process (I’ve seen them going for 800-900 bucks online)
http://www.mobileplanet.com $798.99 search htc TyTN II and if you wait a lil longer then youll get it for cheaper they seem to go down 10-20 every week.
@ Jeff,
That’s for the SGH-i600 (the blackjack’s hot European twin w/ wifi.) Installing that will brick the phone. I’ll pass on this one. I’ll wait for at&t’s official F/W.
Well it won’t actually brick the phone since everything on the inside is the same so as long as that passes then your good. But yea I would wait.
Yeah, too bad there are major bugs with the TyTN II already like overheating causing dead pixels and backlight issues. There are many threads detailing these issues on HoFo and xda.
lol, “this side of the planet”. I’m sure hell has a better winmo6 one, esp. since microsoft HAS to be in bed with the devil.
I only have to ask why it took BGR this long to post the info if they already have a Kaiser sometime last week???
Treos already could BT print for a while now, at least.
There are very few threads reporting problems with this phone on HoFo and XDA, and most users so far seem very happy with it. Some folks have reported their backlight stays off after making a call, but this seems limited to those with the official HTC ROM, who have a phone lock password. The workaround at the moment is not to set a password or press the power button again after a call.
I WANT this phone!

I think this feature is included to compensate for the Infra Red missing as all the previous device had IR and printing via IR was pretty straight forward. But nevertheless it is a welkome feature. I just got mine here in Amsterdam and must say it is as impressive as it sounds and looks.
Here it is almost a year later and I can still not get Tilt to print via Bluetooth. It recognized my HP 460 w/Bluetooth card. Anyone know what port and port settings work?
With all respect the HTC TyTN II/Tilt/Kaiser did NOT bring bluetooth printing to the table, as I had a Motorola SLVR which also had full-scale bluetooth printing capabilities.
