HTC Juno? Yes!

Remember the HTC Juno? It is most certainly going to T-Mobile USA. While Juno is the codename, we haven’t got word of the official launch name yet. It’s a Windows Mobile based device and has a "consumer friendly interface, most likely HTC’s TouchFlo," says our source. He also goes on to tell us that it will have a QWERTY keyboard, but from the looks of things, is that SureType? T-Mobz should be positioning this phone as an "adult Sidekick" and the phone has a "wow screen and interface." It is currently a T-Mobile USA exclusive and set for a mid to late October release.

Any word on the specs of this device? I’m hoping it will work on T-mobiles new 3G network.

HTC continues to pump out good designs. Looks promising.

I second the request for specs. The phone looks slick, but if it still has the same 200mhz processor that the Wing and Dash have, then it’s going to be just as much a POS.

I like this. I third the request for specs.

Nice Looking! But could someone explain to me how this could have HTC’s TouchFLO interface when it’s reportedly a WM6 Standard Edition OS (based off of the HTC Vox)?

There seems to be some confusion out there. CrunchGear says the Juno is the codename for the S730 (Wings)

the 3g network is in fact coming. actually its already in place in some areas. i actually learned today a lot about how its coming about.. anyways as a matter of a fact in the next couple months it will be more of a presence and they’re upgrading all the towers that need replacement equipment with 3g racks. its no longer a myth! i saw the 3g rack today!

3g is coming. This is a fact. Early next year it will be in full swing. Our first 3g phone is set to drop in october. BTW…I work for t-mobile. Juno is a codename for this new phone, the codename for the wing was something else strange (i forget). It is also being referred to as the SHADOW. Get ready, t-mobile is taking over.

I worked for Cingular back when 3g was in the process of being setup and tested and one big problem during that time was a lot of called failed, retry? issues. In the houston area prior to July this has never been a issue on t-mobile, but last month and starting this month im getting a lot of called failed, retry errors. This is my only evidence that 3g is in fact being tested in Houston and will launch in a few months providing the testing goes well just like Cingular did when they launched 3g.

Hopefully this htc isn’t as big of a pile of crap as my broken T-Mobile Dash!

Hey Slider, since you wrk for Tmobile can you confirm any additional specs? Does the keyboard have seperate keys for the letters and numbers that would be kick –s, a regular keypad and QWERTY. How about if this will support 3G? Give us a nod…something to nibble on.

I work for T-Mobile also. Haven’t heard anything specific, but I am being sent to a training event HTC is calling “Rooftop Rendezvous” (these things always have stupid names) that will unveil a phone “featuring the largest, most vibrant screen ever offered on a T-Mobile phone”. The largest screen I know of that T-Mobile has carried is the iPaq h6315
at 3.5″. The Wing is the largest currently carried at 2.8″. The Juno screen looks to be smaller than the Wing… definately not larger than the iPaq. Unless of course they arent considering the Wing and iPaq “phones”.

I was at a meeting this moring and I asked one of my higher ups about the Juno and showed him a pic of it. He asked where the hell I saw that and said he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement so he “couldnt” tell me anything about it. Although he didn’t say that it apparently has a much faster processor than the wing and the keypad and build quality are aweseome, along with Touchflo.

I work for t-mobile too and i also got that e-mail stating there is a training class in october about a new phone from HTC. Normally, they give everybody who attends the phone for free. Im hoping it is this phone. Also, 3g is will be in full swing for t-mobile next year. too bad 4g is rolling out for every other carrier..

This phone make me remember my first symbian - Nokia 7650. I hope this is a WM6 Professional with high resolution - VGA or WVGA.

Remember the faster the processor the battery life that gets used by the phone application that is always running in the background…you can’t expect the phone battery to last all day if you are runninga 400mhz processor all day long.
Just another example of wanting a 17″ widescreen pda the size of matchbook…you can’t have it all.

T-Mobile’s 3G Delay Government Related
T-Mobile’s planned 3G build out scheduled for this year is on hold because the federal government is still using the portions of spectrum that T-Mobile USA won in last year’s AWS auction. T-Mobile spent $4.2 billion to acquire 120 licenses in the 1700 MHz band, and reportedly offered the federal government an additional $50 million to move off of that spectrum sooner rather than later. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez noted that law enforcement and homeland security agencies are using that spectrum for mobile surveillance devices and relocating them to other spectrum has been problematic. T-Mobile is the only one of the four major wireless network operators not offering 3G services in the U.S., which it needs in order to remain competitive in the market.
