T-Mobile’s new data plans

Just when you thought they couldn’t get any cheaper….T-Mobile is set to completely revamp their data plan lineup with a new pricing scheme that is sure to make subscribers swoon. Beginning tomorrow, September 12th, the big Pink will be dropping updates to their BlackBerry and Total Internet plan offerings. The Total Internet add-on, which includes unlimited web browsing and data service for devices such Wing and Dash, will drop from $29.99 to $19.99. Sweet! The BIS add-on will remain at $19.99 for customers in need of the full BlackBerry email/web browsing experience. For anyone simply looking for an email solution, however, things are about to get very interesting. T-Mobile is launching a new BlackBerry add-on plan that will give customers access to any BIS-accessible email accounts for $9.99 a month. All web browsing and secondary data access will be blocked, but for a 10-spot, it’s hard to argue with the lack of frills. Not bad at all. The stand alone Total Internet plan will see a $10 drop from $49.99 to $39.99. The bad news (you knew there had to be something) is that the standalone BIS option, as well as the standalone Total Internet Plan, will go up to $39.99 from $29.99. Curiously, this makes the BIS and BES standalone packages identical in price. We’re not sure if T-Mobile HotSpot Wi-Fi access will still be part of the Total Internet package, but we’ve seen nothing to indicate that it won’t still available to subscribers. These new plans will be available via retail channels tomorrow and on T-Mobile.com by the 16th of September. All you FlexPay customers can expect to see changes by the 16th.

Thanks, tmophonehome!

Swiffy - Is NYC on that initial list? Where are all the rest of the 3G phones? The t639 was supposed to come out yesterday, but nothing yet. I would love for them to allow people that are paying for the new low data $19.99 price and the T-MobileWeb plan to get 3G. That won’t probably happen though.

I remember a while back when tmo first dropped the nokia 3220. It was the first EDGE phone, but tmo hadnt switched on the EDGE network until a month or two later. I wonder if this is going to be the case with the Samsung T639 (1700mhz 3G for Tmobile) that slipped through the FCC back in July. When that phone drops on the T, ill be holding my breath.

Thanks for the speculative response tmophonehome!

Yeah, this might be the same case, since they would want people to have the phone prior to launching the network in some markets.

Ok tried again and they gave the rate plan. It is a DO NOT PROMOTE rateplan that the agent had to really look for to give to me. Make sure if you want the ‘SALE’ rate that you are insistant that it exists.

I also just called, the Rep could not find the plan. But she seemed to know about the $10 drop from $30 to $20 for total internet add on package…but she didnt know how to apply it to my account becuase it didnt show on her screen. Anyhow I just logged onto my t-mo, went to “change plans/services” I clicked on “total internet addon” which I already had (it was already selected for $29.99) and then the page showed me two “total internet addon with hotspot” one was the already selected 29.99, and one was the new 19.99 rate. I deselected the 29.99 and selected the 19.99. Done deal. It’s on their systems now…no need to wait till 9/16 as the article states.

I’m reading all of this about the pricing etc. For $20 extra on a Sidekick you’ll have everything included; email, text messaging, and web browsing. So what’s the problem?

T-Mobile treats existing customers like garbage.

After 12 years with T-Mobile, I cannot even get them to send a defective charger replacement to me without a charge. I have to pay for all the shipping charges in order to get what they sold me and what I already paid for once to be replaced.

They can make a living off their defective products alone!

I’m thinking that TMo will have all of these new customers now using the cheaper data plans, and six months to a year later, when they’re less than half way through their contract they’ll jack up the price of there data plans with 3G.

Wasn’t AT&T talking about advancing to 4G in the next year or two?
