Qwest introduces exclusive HTC Fusion

What do you get when you take a GSM Windows Mobile device, and throw it on a CDMA network? Usually you get EV-DO. That holds true here, friends. Qwest announced today the availability of the HTC Fusion 5800 which is basically an HTC S710 Vox CDMA variant. The great part is instead of topping out at EDGE, we get EV-DO data speeds, and as far we can tell a much improved full QWERTY keyboard. Let’s be real, the HTC S710 keyboard hurt our feelings. The usual accoutrements like a 2 megapixel camera, A2DP Bluetooth profile, and Windows Mobile 6 Standard are all, well, standard on the Fusion. $200 for a 2 year agreement, but, who is Qwest again?

it makes me wonder about HTC throwing out so many variants of basically the same model. Anyone have any complaints about quality?
Or do they keep the quality up while pumping out tons of phones?

This is why I wish the FCC would come in and bitchslap Sprint and Verizon. This phone, like the Helio Fin/Ocean/whatever, would work FINE on Sprint’s network, since it is already running on Sprint’s network.

But because of Sprint’s policies, we are not able to use it.

This is where the FCC needs to step in.

I agree with pete is bullshit that we can’t use phones that would clearly work on sprint simply because they don’t carry it…. shame shame

I have held this phone already … last week actually. It didn’t have a battery in it but the display phone felt nice. Qwest is a regional MVNO that used to operate its own network but sold its equipment in the western states to Sprint and Verizon and now operates as an MVNO on Sprint. The lineup is primarily Sprint phones. They now offer the Q, the Mogul and the Fusion which is pretty good for an MVNO as far as PDA/smartphones go. And the customer service is head and shoulders above what Sprint offers. My sister has two lines with Qwest (she can bundle her landline and Internet service along with her cell phone on one bill) and loves them.
