Palm’s upcoming European Treo 500 revealed!
The recent rumblings about Palm’s impending European product launch have not gone unheeded, dear readers. We have here a leaked document outlining the upcoming addition to Palm’s family. As reported earlier, this will not be the Palm Centro (which still appears destined for Sprint’s shelves), but rather a renamed version of the Palm "Gandolf" that has been making the rounds for quite some time. The handset will launch on Vodafone’s network in the Netherlands. sport a full QWERTY keyboard, UMTS or HSDPA, Windows Mobile 6 Standard, and more. It will be a Treo, meaning that Palm is not ditching its tried and true moniker just yet, and it will most likely launch on the 12th of September. All told, not a half bad look here. Full size pic after the jump!

Not as bad as originaly pictured however, not what I wanted as a Palm faithful.

Looks better than I expected. I guess palm is trying to change there ways. They still need to ditch the os and start from scratch.

This one is running WM6 though…

WM6 should give it a more “real PDA phone” feel but that keypad…god that thing has got to suck to type on.

There’s WAAAY too much space beneath the screen. They should have made the keyboard comfier to type on and given less space to the softkeys.

Ugly, they should scrap the design like they scraped the foleo. Palm’s done. I would walk around with that brick if Palm paid me too.

of course being palm this means they probably sourced the crappiest screen possible from their component suppliers. i’ve seen colligan flat out lie for the past 5 years now about how they’re saving battery life by using a smaller screen with lower pixel depth…yeah right. anyone used a treo 750 lately? the screen sucks, and so does the battery life. i had to take one to japan recently and it was just about the worst week of my life.

Pete you absolutely correct, it looks horrible with all that wasted space.
Palm needs to hire some new designers and a big PR firm to right the ship as its going down fast at this point.

I believe Palm needs to get a grip on their market and focus on what really makes them great with thier phones. There versatility to work with so many other programs and programers on OS system is what sets them apart. Look at the Real Estate, Medical fields, and even some of the fun programs that can run on Palm. Not many phones are that flexible, including the great I-Phone.
They need to focus on what is locking up the phones, and causing the problems as well as making them capable for 3G and next level of 3G already comming out. I have used a Treo 650 for ever and I’m holding out for a newer palm OS that can be everything the old one was with faster speed. Educating and making phone flawless is what they really need to be focusing on.
MW is fine, but takes away from the flexability, and makes one more system to run ontop of the operating system.
Sincerely Hardcore Palm OS believer.

why the hell can’t they just take the 750 and make the damned thing thinner?!?!???
1. thinner 750
2. enhanced resolution
3. wi-fi
4. gps
enough already with 3rd-grade designs!

Very disappointed on the look of the device. Even though the treo 650 is kind of old now its still a good looking device. This one looks really ugly. I’d rather stick with my blackberry.

Head back to the drawing board Palm, or say goodbye to your business!!

What a joke. Same spec’s as other Treo’s. I knew Palm would milk the Centro design WITH NO NEW FEATURE! Its easy to make new Treo’s when they are all the same. Die palm!
