Widespread BlackBerry outage?

And we thought these things were a thing of the past….it seems that BlackBerry users on all networks are experiencing a complete data outage. First reported around 10:00 AM this morning EDT, the outage is apparently blocking all email and web access to ‘Berrys on all mobile networks. T-Mobile has, in fact, just confirmed the existence of a global BlackBerry BIS network outage, with no expected time frame for resolution. Thus far, we’ve only received reports from AT&T and T-Mobile users, but we have every reason to believe that Sprint and Verizon users are thusly effected as well. If the outage is as widespread as the initial reports seem to indicate, this could mark the second time in a year that the BlackBerry users have been subjected to such an event. It should be noted that it has not yet been confirmed if the problem is on the carrier side or RIM side of things, but given the cross-carrier nature of the problem, we’d wager a guess that it’s a RIM problem. Come on, RIM!
Thanks, to everyone that sent this in!

AT&T in Columbus, OH is doing just fine!
Just woke up Sat morning and got a rush of 40 or so emails the were not delivered to my bb 8703E on VZW…
Alright, here in Austin, TX on T-Mobile with BIS and ran a few test emails and it appears the problem has now been solved.
No issues in Cincinnati on T-Mobile using BES.
Hey guys, Verizon is working amazingly. And has been, all day long.

I’m in Southern California and have been out since yesterday morning. Verizon says they have no ETA on repair. Getting SOME messages hours to a day later.

i have yahoo email BIS and it is not working at all. BES working fine. But i need my yahoo email.
I finally gave up and used the yahooPlus email forwarding option to forward my email directly to blackberry while all of these problems are worked out. This seems to be an iron-clad solution for now.
another day and no service or even promise of service. I’m going to use this to get out of my contract
Well, I got a couple of emails today, but the problem seems to be far from over.
yeah, its still ongoing. especially if you need your yahoo account.
I have been on and off for a couple days now, very annoying.
7:17pm, nyc, still not working well in any way. yahoo email still not syncing the way it should with blackberry. This is now Monday. This started on Friday!!!! Is this problem going to be over soon? Does anyone have ideas? Please post comments please help.
6:25pm 9/10/07 – AT&T, Calif. still not working – yahoo email still not syncing the way it should with blackberry. today I signed up for a gmail account and switched all my yahoo mail to gmail – getting those emails fine. Seems to only be a problem with blackberry/yahoo.
Well as of 745am NYC, the yahoo email seems to be syncing again, but I am very unhappy, and rather pissed off. The entire thing is very unprofessional. I pay for yahoo email plus and pay for blackberry service. This kind of thing really isn’t very good.
it seems as if everything is finally back to normal. I love BlackBerry’s product, and I am extremely happy to have it working again.
My Blackberry is down..spoke with Nextel about the outage and no avail..anyways, just wondering if anyone else is down??
Becky
well, it’s october 20, and it looks like the yahoo email blackberry interface is down again.
oh it’s just that blackberry is canadian and not really aware of the Fascist takeover of the United States – the problem is PIN to PIN messaging that cannot be accessed by U.S. intelligence agencies. So RIM gets slapped on the hand, shut down, until they figure out how to allow access to monitor PIN to PIN communications. If that doesn’t happen, then they will have to drop the PIN to PIN communications. NO ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION CAN BE PRIVATE!
in actual fact, no communication can be private…except perhaps a whisper.
