Just announced, Virgin Mobile’s new Super Slice replaces…you guessed it! The Slice. The big news here? Well, big for Virgin. is that this is their first Bluetooth enabled handset! Welcome to the social, guys! All in all though, we can’t hate on Virgin Mobile that much. Anyone that can get have distribution in pharmacies and 7-11’s while turning a profit, is A-OK in our book! The Super Slice features a VGA camera, speakerphone, and up to 270 minutes of talk time for on $59.99 contract free when it hits bodegas and drug stores around you a little later in the month.

This should be filed next to the Zune price drop…
I can’t believe after almost six hours on the site not one comment…
Does anyone care about the Virgin mobile phones…
More specifically..do the (relatively) much better informed technology consumers who frequent this site?
I’m not tying to bang ya over the head, I just thought it was interesting that the 100 dollar apple rebate got, like, 30 + replies, but this got none…
until now.
but, I could be wrong…

I love my Virgin Mobile phone, paid $20 for it and it’s as good as any phone I’ve ever owned, very durable too, over a year old. I’m on the pay-by-the-minute plan, saves me a pile of money.
You can see how many minutes you have left right in the phone, a feature every cell phone user should demand! I can’t say enough great things about Virgin Mobile.
Now I didn’t buy the Slice because the guy at the store said people had trouble with the buttons. But maybe the Super Slice solves that issue? The Super Slice looks nice, but I’m just wondering if those buttons would get pressed by accident in my pocket. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but Virgin Mobile allows you to add all kinds of options (like wallpaper, ringtones, etc.) for extra fees right from the phone, so I have a feeling you could end up signing up for expensive features by accident if you didn’t enable a keylock, and I hate it when I have to type a password to use my phone, clamshell designs are better.

I’m assuming writers on this site don’t use spell check?

Looking to get the Super Slice even though my daughter’s Slice accidently for 20-25 minutes called home while in her book bag. Called the house phone like 10 times and there was nothing I could do. Recorded background noise on answering machine and voice mail. Virgin Mobile won’t credit either. Now she has to lock the keypad everyday. She loves the phone and the only thing missing was the camera. Virgin Mobile does have the best no contract service but calling customer service is always a long drawn out PITA process.

I purchased 2 of the Super Slice telephones for 2 separate VM accounts and the text messaging feature on both has not worked properly since I received the telephones. Duplicate, tripclicate, and sometimes as many as 15 - 20 copies of a text message will be sent from my Super Slice telephone. I’ve received 2 replacement Super Slice telephones from VM but the problem remains. I’ve been told by VM that it’s a server/networking issue. It’s been more than 3 weeks now and I remain unable to text message (in or out) on either Super Slice telephone without my text messages duplicating.
