Apple introduces iPod Touch, yes it’s real

Want an iPhone with no phone? The iPod Touch is here! This friggin’ thing looks exactly like an iPhone, too. In addition to the new iPod Nano, iPod Classic, and new iPod Shuffles, Steve went out and wowed us with a much-awaited touch screen iPod. One small minor thing…it has WiFi! They even have included Safari and YouTube! There’s an 8GB model for $299, and a 16GB model for $399. All flash memory, of course. What’s even bigger here, you ask? Well, that would be the wireless iTunes Music Store! It contains 4 buttons which are: featured, top tens, downloads, and search. You get a free preview of the song, just tap it to buy it and download it. You can listen to it on the iPod, and the newly purchased song will automatically sync with you iTunes on your computer! Huzzah!

UPDATE: "It’s going to come later this month with a free iPhone update — everyone with an iPhone is going to get this too. We’re really, really excited about this."

yeah, that would suck to “lose” it and a month later realize that someone charges $3,000 on your ipod?

The ipod touch is nice for those who don’t have an iphone or don’t want to switch to AT&T. I’d pre order one today if there was a 30gb version.

You have to log into your itunes account to purchase music so I would not worry about that. Will you be able to browse your webmail with the device? If so that makes for a great device for me anyway.

This is F**KING SICK!!!!! But, yes there’s always a but, it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive for only an 8 or 16 gb flash drive. Now if it was a 30 gb drive I would be sold, ok maybe a 60 for $349.

Why in the world would they release the touch with only a 16gig drive? I agree with others they should have used a hd and created at least a 30gig version to make it worthwhile.

Once you log in to itunes store you stay (logged in at least that how it works on my pc), so I guess someone could run up your bill. I’m wondering since this has wifi would the apple be able to track it down(if stolen) when the thief uses wifi. The itouch has a standard headphone jack.

It sucks that there is no SD card slot. In a couple of months when the price of 16gb SDHC cards drops, you could have popped one in and had a 32gb iPod Touch.

Hmmm, now if only some enterprising company or hacker finds a way to add this up:

WiFi enabled iPodTouch + Skpye for iPodTouch + Microphone = VoIP iPodTouch

    Another interesting equation worth pondering:
    Starbucks Music = Starbucks hotspot = T-Mobile HotSpot = T-Mobile@Home

    lots of possibilities….
