Apple introduces iPod Touch, yes it’s real

Want an iPhone with no phone? The iPod Touch is here! This friggin’ thing looks exactly like an iPhone, too. In addition to the new iPod Nano, iPod Classic, and new iPod Shuffles, Steve went out and wowed us with a much-awaited touch screen iPod. One small minor thing…it has WiFi! They even have included Safari and YouTube! There’s an 8GB model for $299, and a 16GB model for $399. All flash memory, of course. What’s even bigger here, you ask? Well, that would be the wireless iTunes Music Store! It contains 4 buttons which are: featured, top tens, downloads, and search. You get a free preview of the song, just tap it to buy it and download it. You can listen to it on the iPod, and the newly purchased song will automatically sync with you iTunes on your computer! Huzzah!
UPDATE: "It’s going to come later this month with a free iPhone update — everyone with an iPhone is going to get this too. We’re really, really excited about this."

Sweet!
Now what I need is the price….
I dont like how it looks exactly like the iPhone…
when will it be released?
Storage: 8GB and 16GB, $299 and $399. Ships in a few weeks (this month).
There’s an empty spot on the iPod Touch dock. It’s a new application: the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.
10:50am – “You might have noticed there’s an empty spot there on that dock. What could that possibly be for, you might ask? It’s for a new application we’ve written for the iPod touch, it’s called the iTunes WiFi music store.” Huge applause. “FINALLY, some of you are saying. Let’s take a look at what it is.”
It will be a real disappointment if they dont add the iTunes Wifi music store to the iPhone…
you know this has to get onto iphones too, I imagine with the iTunes update you will get a iphone update.
It has to, right?
I dont know if it will be on the iPhone, if he doesnt announce it then I dont see it happening…
yeah, you will know in minutes i would think.
Browsing the iTunes store is similar to the iTunes app on the PC. Tap a song to preview the song, and tap the download button to download. The next time you dock your iPod Touch to your computer, it’ll sync the song to iTunes.
There’s a featured section, as well as search (searches everything), and the same selection as on the iTunes regular store. Not a slimmed, gimped down store for the portable iPod Touch.
the touch is basicaly the iphone minus the phone, looks and act the same. I cant imagine they would not put the store on the iphones.
I think I am more pumped for the 160 gig than the touch
Ok gang. All along I have been saying that the iPhone would be a great device without the phone (and for that matter AT&T). Now Apple has gone and done this a few short weeks before I purchase the t-mo curve. I could just keep my current cell phone (Moto Rizr) and get this for all things multimedia. What is a girl to do???
They did!
“It’s going to come later this month with a free iPhone update — everyone with an iPhone is going to get this too. We’re really, really excited about this.”
“When you get near a Starbucks a fifth button will come up in the WiFi music store — you may have been in a Starbucks wondering what song is that playing? Now you can buy it with a tap of your finger. And if you just missed it, you can still find it…”
thats a cool tech, might lead to some targeted marketing.
Man my BB is looking dated…

B. Lam:
Man, Zune is going to have to step it up juuuust a little bit.
My question is, so when someone steals a “touch” (come on you know its going to happen) they can just have free reign at downloading music to their new stolen “touch” thus charging your credit/debity card and all you can do is foot the bill until you get a chance to cancel your card on the site?
I think that might be a bit of a stretch, they must have some security. maybe password for every purchase? dont know until someone tests it out.

Also official: 4GB iPhone is now gone. Only thing left is the 8GB iPhone for $399.
Just putting out worse case possible….lol
