New HP iPAQ 614c and iPAQ 914c renderings
Got a hunger for some more cowbell shots of the upcoming iPAQ handsets? Say no more, we’ve got you covered. Hewlett-Packard’s upcoming return to the cell phone game has been met with mixed emotions. The iPAQ line of smartphones was a successful, if functionally challenged, experiment, but they left the game for a reason. Will the new handsets live up to the hype? Judging from these recently leaked renderings, the answer is still a bit unclear. The shots depict two handsets: the iPAQ 600 and the IPAQ 900 series. The 614c is a classic candy bar style handset, sporting nothing more than a numeric keypad running atop Windows Mobile 6 Professional. It has a touchscreen and a touch sensitive navigation wheel built into the T9-capable pad. The 914c sports a full QWERTY keyboard placed on top of a near identically spec’d handset. Both sport HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3 megapixel camera. Now, if we could only stop thinking about the monumental failure the HP 6315 was…

Too bad they are rebranded OKWAPS (as mu buddies at HoFo quickly pointed out)

I never thought they were that great, and them trying to come back into the game is kind of random, specially with so many companies now trying to compete for access to this market.
I think its great to see hp coming back into the market. They really started the ball rolling (bar Psion of course) with the Ipaq range (I’ve had 2 so far) although of course they were made buy Compaq intially.
The recent attempts at a smartphone were lets face it rubbish but the new Ipaq 600 and 900 look like they are really on the money!
A good return to the market and I for one will be having the 614c as soon as they get their act together to actually deliver my order.
One complaint I have is why do all pocket pc phones and smartphones have poor processing power 400mhz for a new phone or still in the 201mhz range is bad and I just don’t understand it.
The Atom life has been around a while and it has a 624mhz processor. Alright power concerns aside the Atom life is a popular phone. I was going to buy it except for the Ipaq 614c……..
