Motorola RAZR 2 V9 now available from AT&T

First, second, and now third; the big guy steps in to get their share of the pie. We heard that shipments left warehouses yesterday, and that the Motorola RAZR 2 should be in most stores in time for today’s launch. While the handset has not yet popped up on AT&T’s website, we expect it to show its face soon. In the market for a RAZR? We think the AT&T version is the way to go at $519 before 2 year agreement, and $299 with a 2 year contract…Unless you can hold out for T-Mobile, that is. JUIX gets us very excited.

I love vzw and everything but I went in yesterday to ask about the razr 2 and the guy tried to get me to get a razr maxx because “its got a better screen and its just a better phone”…sales reps are idiots

I am using the V8 on AT&T.
Gotta love the MOTMAJX (no longer JUIX or LJ), interface.
Even though the V9 has 3G, it is saddled with the Synergy OS.
T-Mobile will actually have the best Razr2 out there (unless you need 3G.)
I recommend the V8 with AT&T network just for the coverage alone.

all the roundups I’ve read have said the v9 is the best variant. Are they wrong?

The V8 has a newer interface that has a much better phonebook, includes a notepad, a file manager, etc.
You can also add/remove/rename folders, change system icons, etc.
It is Linux based and there will be a lot of native Linux apps written for it in the coming months.
I am happy with the V8, the V9’s seem old tech to me now after using the V8.

I can’t wait for tmobile to release the v8. Its the best razr2. Even though att, vzw & sprint will try to convince us otherwise.

wonder if tmo will hold out until its 3G network goes live this fall……

Ok so thanks to BGR I knew AT&T got there shiny new Razr2’s in today.
And they did.
So there I was at the store all ready to drop too much money on my new phone when they brought it out to show me what I was about to get. Ahhh, there it was in all its razry goodness. So new, so exciting, so purple.
Yeah, its purple. They called it a mahogany gun metal something or other. Shiny black cherry to me. a.k.a. purple.
To be fair, it was a nice shiny shade of purple. But give me a break. Apparently AT&T forgot that some of their clientel have Y chromosomes. Needless to say I walked out of the store without a new phone. Sigh…
Thanks AT&T. Let me know when they come in man colors.

To rtm I agree, I have been saying that all along on these blogs and you proved me right. alot of guys will not buy it in that color.. they didnt think that part through.

Gimme a break!! As long as it’s not pink, why men wouldn’t buy this phone? To my opinion, black phones are boring these days.
p.s-Men these days wear pink shirts. So why not a mahogany colored cell phone!

Looks like I’ll need to make a trip to at&t.

Some guys may wear pink shirts, but not Men.
And I even have a plum colored shirt but I didn’t pay $300 for it. Besides, it says “mahogany” but it isn’t. Think metalic black cherry. Not something I want to pay big money and sport around for 2 years. Just sayin.

Absolutely right. Wearing a colored shirt expresses a mood and personality. Your phone is with you all the time - for business and pleasure - and needs to reflect that.

Why you would go get a “new” Razr2 with the same old Synergy garbage UI is beyond me. For that price get an unlocked V8 off Ebay…

It’s still a razr and razr’s suck.

To Jeff B. you are so right. That’s why I just dont understand why all the carriers are charging so much for it.
If you look at it,it’s just an updated Razr w/ 3G,better camera and screens. No real feature that stand out between other phones out there.
Besides that big outer screen, you can have those same features on other phones for much less than that.

Exactly what he said.

I hate that mahogany color and I’m a girlie girl. It’s heinous! I won’t buy until ATT&T have a better color, like gunmetal or black. Yuck! It’s too expensive not to get what you want.

Yea… I was about to buy it too until I saw that ugly color. I want blue, black or silver. Does anyone know when att will get those new colors?

I was wanting to get a V8 but at&t only has the V9. Like the V8 much better, the OS, talk time, color, features, and soem other things are just better than the V9. i see you use the V8 with AT&T, Does all the features work ok? Is there anything you need to do to the phone to use on AT&T? Besides the 3g not being supported ( 3g isn’t even in my area anyways).
