One of Motorola’s most secret projects…

We’ve known about this for quite some time, but now we feel like we can share what we know with you guys. A new Motorola handset is currently in the works, and looks to be a tech lover’s dream. We’re talking about a 640×480 VGA screen, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, a 5 megapixel camera lens courtesy of Kodak with a xenon flash, FM radio, 3.5mm headset jack, a Linux-based OS, support for just about every audio and video codec under the sun, and quite possibly a touch screen, too. Wowee! It’s said to be a slider phone and is currently making the rounds into final production. Release date at this point is unknown, but it does sound sort of like a couple other handsets, for the most part, no?

Any idea on who the service providers will be? Could this be VZW’s “answer” to the iphone?

Sounds good, if they release it before iphone version 2. After that I’m not sure what will be cutting edge anymore. Whats the next step?

The OS is the most interesting part, they need to move away from WM towards something new, that for me is the most interesting part of the iphone or the symbian phones.

the problem – rzr2 is waaaay overpriced. the halo effect of discounting the crap out of that phone for holiday will mean this will be waaaaay overpriced (if it even exists).

moto just keeps losing money and passing it on to the next model.

“is this the answer to the Iphone”

verizon and sprint don’t need to answer the Iphone, the Iphone doesn’t have half the features the cheaper handsets at verizon do. it does however have a fancy screen and cure cancer. so maybe go ask the FDA if they have an answer for the Iphone.

Wow, will this phone be released prior to some other companies great design probably not. Motorola has had some great ideas they just never followed through with them. But the phone could be everything we ever wanted. But wasn’t that the iPhone as well.

    Half the features?
Main features are touch screen, full web browser and media capabilities. Those VZW phones must be xtreme!

yeah, it does sound like a lot of other phones being made these days, but with all the little things wrong with those devices, fixed.

here are the problems with the iphone: MMS, IM support, copy and paste, customization,3G. if all these things can be accomplished without possibly destroying your phone or voiding your warranty it would be the perfect phone. so if someone can produce a phone by Christmas that corrects all these flaws PERFECTLY that would be a true iphone killer.

LK: good find! So how is this any better than an E-TEN X800 except not being WM?

    LK says:

The camera. Based of the specsheet of the X800, that’s the only improvement I can see.

Also, the Moto is smaller, if the size given on JustAMP.com is in fact correct.

I’m cautiously optimistic for this phone. The specs are almost TOO impressive (especially for Moto). Though, if BG says there’s a phone with these specs in the works, I am going to tend to trust him.

It has to be. The description BGR gave us sounded way too close to the Moto ROKR E6. Basically the same phone sans 3G.

Touch screen, and media…wow the 6700 had that two years ago, and if you think a full HTML browser is the extent of the SUPER stuff the Iphone came with you are just a stupid bait monkey following the idiodic banter of a hype machine in full gear.

oh, and that SWEET full html browser runs slower than a dead goat since the network it runs on is obsolete and outdated. good call on that one system…you sure are the man now dog.
