Verizon brings live college football to mobile phones

‘Tis the season for football, folks. Verizon has decided to bring over 100 regular season, and 20 bowl games to your mobile handset. Utilizing the streaming video built in to the V-Cast interface, the carrier will be broadcasting a wide cross section of games from a variety of divisions across the country. The games will be shown on CBS Mobile, ESPN TV, FOX Mobile, and NBC 2Go, ensuring that subscribers will have significant choice at any given time. The service, which is being offered in conjunction with MediaFLO USA, will be offered at no additional premium above standard V-Cast rates. We suppose there are some advantages to being a Verizon subscriber, right?

…BGR, run a college NCAA or SEC [Roll Tide!] graphic with this story - not NFL. Thanx for the info though…

You may want to rethink your graphic… Sprint has exclusive rights to the NFL… it’s a bit misleading…

Yeah sprint has agreements with the NFL. We dont want to get Sprint EVDO mix up with Media Flo. The picture on Media Flow is crystal clear compared to sprint T.V and regular VCAST. Running at 30fps this is no prerecorded shows this is live T.V

Anyone know if Verizon plans to offer some of the Big Ten games that aren’t being carried by ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, or ESPN? There is a big flap over the “Big Ten Network” with additional fees to watch their games. Backdooring them through Verizon would be sweet!

I remember when cingular had the “ncaa basketball package”
I had a rep from the cingular store come in and was paying her bill(yes she is a verizon customer) and she was talking smack about how they got highlights, and could see the games after it happend…I kept on laughing and she got mad…it was then I flipped the 9400 around and showed her we were watching the game LIVE over the air as it was happening. she paid her bill and left for work. it pretty much solidified the 5 new lines of sales I had in the store at that time HAHA
