I’ve downloaded 4.3 and installed it on my PC but I just can’t get it to upgrade the OS on my BB 8700. Everything works fine but I thought via the Ap. loader would work but I guess I’m doing something wrong. Could anyone help, please?

I reckon I’m just anal retentive: I tend to think of “Work” and “Work 2″ as dedicated landlines (and many of the people in my address book might have two (or more) different work numbers if they travel often to other offices) whereas I think of “Mobile” as being … well, mobile. (Then, I could also argue to the point of why does the address book only have “Work” and “Mobile” as opposed to “Work Mobile” and “Personal Mobile”?) I could, theoretically, just list the work mobile and leave off the office numbers. Maybe I don’t *really* need to have *that* many numbers to reach one person.

They can overhaul the UI on email and address book as much as they want, and it still looks crappy to me. They need to scratch and rewrite the UI on the entire OS.

As a previous owner of the iPhone, I can comment on it without any bias opinions. For everyone bashing it and saying that it is overhyped, I have to let you know that you are right it is overhyped because it doesn’t do everything that my blackberry curve can do but it does look a lot better. I have had my curve for a little while now (replacement phone for my iPhone after my 5, that’s right 5 iPhones didn’t work. I have had no issues with my curve and it is very easy to use and blackberry os is very easy to manuever and customize. Hopefully the update includes an easier way to connect to the internet via usb tethering. As this is the only thing I can’t do on my curve. Other than that, I can do everything I need to do on my curve. I love the email as does eveyone who purchases a blackberry. It is simply the best email based device out there and that fact will never change.

To compare a BB to the iPhone is just retarded, iPhone is sickly overhyped and under performs at everything, the only thing good abt it is the touch screen and i’m still not even sure abt that, have fun with your kaiser/8595/AT&T Tilt, whatever you wanna call it these days, considering my job (at&t data support) I’d take a BB anyday over a WM mobile device, BB’s ”just work” WM devices are shit,albeit WM6 is an upgrade to the piss poor WM5 but still has nothing on a BB when it comes to being able to work without have to fiddle around with it for 2 hrs before I can even access my email.

We need a new browser before anything else. The BB 8800 is really only lacking a good browser and maybe Wifi. I bought the iPhone today just because it meets those two areas pretty well.

Most likely not…RIM likes to keep these new OS’s for the new phones, like the 8310/8320 might come with it stock, but the 8300 will need the OS downloaded to the phone…what’s the problem?? It’s FREE!

I like what I see, but I have to agree with the “evolution” versus “revolution” … As a developer, I tend to believe that “evolution” is in the minor version number and “revolution” is in the major version number, so I hope to see much more in terms of “revolution” in OS 5.0.

Having said that, an “overhaul” of the address book app conjured images of being able to store multiple mobile numbers for a person. That’s always one thing I’ve found lacking in the BlackBerry. Most of the people in my office have personal mobile phones as well as corporate mobile phones, so I often have to store a person’s personal mobile number under “other” just to avoid creating a duplicate entry. The app does have “Home” and “Home 2″, “Work” and “Work 2″, but only one “Mobile” number. That’s always been a very odd limitation to me especially in these days.

Otherwise, I like the screenshots so far. Much thanks Boy Genius for the news. Saturdays always seem to be slow news days, but this just put a big smile on my face.
