AT&T preparing to launch parental controls
Those with high bills based on text messaging can finally relax. Effective September 4, parents will be able to purchase AT&T Smart Limits, giving them the ability to regulate their children’s voice and data usage. The tool will allow individuals to set usage limits, allocate minutes (finally) among various users on the family plan, set various time-of-day or day-of-week stipulations, filter content, and allow for specified calling. The service will cost $4.99 monthly and is not available on corporate accounts. Looks like Grandma is going to have to cut back her call time.

Wow, another addon feature from another nickle and dime mentality wireless company. I swear, they are going to start charging a charge, charge. You know, they will charge you a monthly fee for allowing you to recharge your cell phone battery using your adapter and your electricity.
They are probably thinking they can do anything after getting people to buy the Iphone for what 500+ and also into an pricey 2 yr agreement, by the MILLIONS.
Let’s boycot att then. Of millions do it an whe chjoke them they will screma for revenue it would have to be for 2 years ftc are you there?
Its for the parents that want to set limits to their kids mobile phone behavior, but they should also add into that features the GPS tracking that Verizon had on their kiddie phones too. Not my issue I don’t have any so I won’t be paying that fee.
Some are completely missing another great benefit: for those (such as myself) that have family members on their plans. Now it can be more fair–”X” amount of minutes per person/mo.
wel basicly this is a cost containment system. and a very bad attemt at it. if att. obviously att’ has been loosing family susbscribers to tmobile. why? LOW RATEs LOW PRICES. that is favored by most american families. now if atte really wants to compete. they ar going to have to play by tmo’s rules and sotp think voice and data are like the price of gasoline. ATT Your world price gauged.
Any idea how they are doing this? Is this a software application that runs on my handset or something done over the air?
