Sprint BlackBerry Pearl 2 to launch Thanksgiving Day weekend?

That’s what we’ve been told! You remember the Sprint BlackBerry Pearl 2, right? It should have integrated GPS, but apparently WiFi won’t make its way into the mix. Since the date we were given was more like a timeframe, please consider it such. Anyways, you just might be able to pick one up before you have to go see those people you see once a year. You know, the ones called family? If this helps lighten your day, I guess we can reveal it…In addition to the news on Sprint’s BlackBerry Pearl 2, we got word that the CDMA Curve is planned for release early in Q1 of ‘08. Possibly on Sprint.

I work for sprint and Pearl will released on Black Friday. We are expecting the phone to be very popular and are looking to sell a lot of units the weekend after thanksgiving. I know that I will be getting it for sure. I have the treo 755 and have been waiting for Sprint to come out with a phone like this supporting gps. First ever blackberry with gps! Go get it. Trust me you’ll like it!

Ricky who works for Sprint obviously doesn’t know to much. This is Sprints 3rd Blackbery with GPS. Sprint is still a crappy network. You can not use the phone and use GPS also. You need to do your homeowork, unlike ATT network.

How is Sprint going to compare with Verizon’s prices?

I have the BB 8130 on Sprints network. Sprint blocks MMS and that is just silly since RIM includes it on their software platform. Any one upset by this?

I picked-up a Sprint BB Pearl 8130 this week. I’m new to BB devices, so I can’t comment on the MMS functionality mentioned in the last post. However, I can comment on the speed of the device. The EVDO-A connection for the phone is FAST! Google Maps, web browsing and other internet applications are much snappier than my older Sprint Treo 650 (1xRTT). Other than the small screen, I feel like I’m browsing the web on an Ethernet network, not a cell phone - even at sites not designed for moblie phones. Download of applications are also very fast.

The only downside to this phone is Sprint itself. I’ve run into a few locations in town where I can’t get a good signal, but I’m used to that.
