iPhone update 1.0.2 released
Apple didn’t waste much time between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2, now did they? Before you get too excited, we should note that this software update claims to improve on little more than "Bug fixes", but progress is progress, right? While the company has yet to implement a lot of the added features that users have been screaming for, including iChat, MMS support, and *cough* native 3rd Party application support, these incremental bug fixes are important and necessary steps along the road towards a more stable and user friendly device. The update is currently available via Software Update in iTunes. Keep in mind that you’ll need to do a full backup before you install, and that any "3rd Party" alterations such as Jailbreak and/or iFuntastic will be wiped, but don’t let that stand in your way! Hit the software update….now! Let us know if you come across anything significant!

Updater borked, probably because I have jailbroken and added some 3rd party stuff. Had to restore and I’m now waiting on iTunes to re-sync all 7GB of music I had on there before.
When that’s done, I’ll find out if the files created with VRecord are still there. I’m betting not.
1st comment!!!!
Knowing apple this is gonna fix, what, like 1 bug out of eighty something?
…13 days to Kaiser…
My Iphone just got better. Less bugs to worried about.
In the mail settings does anyone notice the Incoming and Outgoing SSL required? Or was it there all the time. Its the only thing I could find and I went through every panel. That and the speaker SEEMS louder when playing tunes through iPod portion but not when using the SPEAKER phone. These crappy updates are getting annoying. They are just milking it until Leopard comes out…
SSL was there in the previous version.
I have a “hacked” iPhone and the update failed a few times for me, I had to do a complete restore, then it allowed me to update and restore my backup from earlier today. Of course it wiped out my hacks, but notes, calls, sms, etc. came back. I then hacked my iPhone again, and all is well.
Jeff B 13 day really how do you know that?
OMG this is bad. it’s like paying $600 for a wanabee treo running windows 95
first thing i would do is take itunes out of the equation they don’t fix the phon funtion @ all crapple just went down 2 pegs.
they ar making satansoft look good.
Galvatron that was a very hard post to read, next time try using English when you speak in your head.
Anyway, updating now. Read enough to get it updated.
Backing it up with ipodaccess though 1st
I believe a lot of the “added” feature sets that we are waiting on will come once Leopard is released. Either way I LOVE my iphone and wouldn’t trade it for the world (at this moment) :p
here what I notice on this uptade. I have a prepaid iPhone and I used to get those annoying balance message. I have not seen them since this last uptade, thank god.
Galvatron is an idiot who refuses to spell anything correctly because he thinks it makes him look like a hacker or something.
I think these incremental updates are good, it shows their continuing to work on getting the OS right and will not wait to release fixes. iTunes is fine way to make these updates as it handles downloads and devices very well in my opinion.
just installed the update. the only add on i have is iPhoneRingToneMaker foradding custom ringtones and everything still works fine
There are a bunch of new wallpapers in this update. Check it out. Certainly nothing earth shattering, but a nice butterfly and autumn scene– stuff like that.
did anyone else notice that if you don’t let a page fully load and click a link the other page still loads in the background. Can anyone confirm?
P.S yes test is right Galv is a moron
@test and ejay,
