Yes, mikeyp, I do realize Europe is not just one country. I travel there extensively for work, and am continually jealous of the options, features, service, phones, etc. that most Europeans enjoy. I’m a huge Apple fan, so this not necessarily a bashing of them. Their actions were quite predictable, given the current state of US cell service. I fully expect improvement in the future, but we’ll be eating the dust of European and Asian cell service for the foreseeable future. After a couple of days in Tokyo, I was worried about taking out my own phone in public, for fear of being laughed at. It’s sad, but true.

8820 has all the features of iPhone?
What like touch screen and full web browser?

Brian you do realize that Europe is not one country? This is three seperate countries and three seperate carriers.

Jeff I understand but what is outdated? EDGE is the only thing i see as really outdated. Brand new mobile OS, new UI, including an ipod in the device, only phone with a full browser in it. The email i guess could be current tech – like WM maybe but i dont see old tech included.

No one ever sees the good things that apple is doing, they are forcing other pda makers to step up their offerings to compete, i’m sure ATT is moving faster to get their 3G network to cover more areas to anticipate the needs of 3G on all new pda’s.

Why in the hell do three Euro carriers have rights to sell the iPhone, and we only get one here in the states? I’ll tell you why…Because our cell service blows compared to Europe’s. Everyone knows it too. I almost shat myself when I saw “T-Mobile”, briefly thinking that Apple was announcing a deal with T-Mobile in the US. It’s really sad when Europeans have more iPhone choices than people living in the country where the damn thing was developed.

Maybe if you weren’t so obsessed with pure tech specs and hardware, you’d realise that the iPhone has other innovations, such as nice product design, a nice smartphone OS design, motion sensing oh and wait, a brand new form of touchscreen keyboard!

Hey test,
I do hate the iPhone but you see if they throw in more tech that bumps that thing to at least up-to-date technology then it could be an awesome device and 3G is a step in the right direction. But the only reason why I don’t like it is because the technology in it is old and apple is trying to rip off everybody in making them believe that $600 is a good price for a touch screen with outdated shit attached.

I’d have to agree to that one. And since at&t has pretty much quietly launched HSDPA, the next version of the iPhone probably will be 3G…and at the same launch date as the EU iPhone.

Imagine an HSDPA iPhone…Screw Wifi!!!

Rim making a full feature phone? Kind of a ridiculous comment last time I checked the 8820 had all the features of the iphone. Oh and GPS and a battery you can replace.

Jeff B. why do you care, you hate the iphone and cant wait until the Kaiser. Well i think it depends on the release date, you know apple wants 3G asap but until they get the battery to do it they will not.

Thats alot of new iphone users potentially, cant wait to see how the others are going to compete. better prices? RIM actually making a full featured phone?
