Speech-to-text message service coming to Alltel

In a striking display of British ingenuity, UK based SpinVox Ltd. has signed Alltel Wireless onto its speech-to-text message service. With the new service, one will receive their voice messages as text messages on their mobile handset. Additionally, the company confirms that it is in talks with one of the top four US carriers. With this rapid growth on the consumer side, coupled with the increase of employees from 50 to 300, the company is rumored to be considering an IPO. Jeff, we get you like the Kaiser. And we know how many days remain unil it ‘drops’. Let it go, thanks.
I’ve used SpinVox and highly recommend it. Much better to read rather than listen to VM (random access faster to text than listening to voice recording). Once I switched to iPhone and its visual voicemail however, I didn’t reactivate it…but even with random access to sections of a recording, having full text translation better. The ideal combination would be both, that way you could skip to the section of the recording with the content of most interest or where translation into text from voice (i.e. unusual name of person) failed.
