Facebook’s iPhone app
From where I’m standing, this is one of the prettiest iPhone apps to date. Facebook has gone ahead and stripped out the fat from it’s desktop version, presenting iPhone users with a simplified version of its popular online social networking tool. Tapping a link leads to a right-scrolling effect that is very Apple-esque, compelling you to tap links for the sheer pleasure of seeing the scroll happen again, and again. Photos have been optimized for mobile perusal, and the basic networking properties are all available. One major gripe, however, is that they seem to have left out the ability to join new groups. So sad. That aside, this little bugger is full of usefulness and eye candy – a deadly combo. Hit the link to try it out. Non-iPhone users can head on over as well…it’s merely a web app that will make you want to use Facebook even more than you did before.

your link is busted: http://iphone.facebook.com (not http://www.boygeniousreport.com/iphone.facebook.com)
Also, this is nice… since you couldn’t reliably update your facebook status from the iphone in the past. Now we get everything, and it actually works. I guess this is why Mr. Jobs didn’t think they needed an API!

iphone’s lack of third party-apps is forcing people to develop better and more streamlined interfaced for their web-apps. I saw this one the other day and it did look very good.
iphone just looks good and performs well too, my 8800 is looking more and more obsolete.

Test I have to agree with you, it seems companies decided to jump on the bandwagon that is the iPhone. Just like apple wanted people are willing to develop programs and services on the it product of the day. Sadly I still think that they need to lower the price of the phone or at least release a 3G version before I can consider this a replacement for my old 8700c.

I tried m.facebook.com on a Samsung A900m and quite liked it. This is even better.

victor i think your right but its tempting as is. their are rumors about a lesser version coming out for the holidays. 3G would be great but its not in my area just yet (damn ATT) but the web apps are flowing now and they in some instances look better than their full versions.

I think this app speaks wonders for both Facebook and the iPhone. I love that Facebook was hip enough to push out a wonderful interface ahead of any other social networking sites (as far as I’m aware). They’ve done a fantastic job on this “app”, really. Also, the iPhone just has to sit back and be itself and it helps this app look and perform so good.
Oddly though, I didn’t notice as much type-checking when posting on my friends’ walls with the app, but maybe that’s just incidental.
And here I thought I would be avoiding Facebook on the iPhone. Now if we could just get a good Last.FM scrobbler and site interface for the iPhone…
