my verizon pearl keeps auto deleting my messages and i have changed the setting to deleting in 15 days but it keeps deleting them anyway..any help??

Don’t bash AT&T they always have the newest phones and their coverage is great I have been them since before they were Cingular their coverage has always been good and the only times I have had trouble is when they first acquired AT&T and then when they switched from Cingular to the new AT&T. Which if you think about it change doesn’t always go smoothly.

Tara to answer your question the BlackBerry 8130 is Unofficially called the BlackBerry Pearl 2 because it has some minor updates to the original Pearl(the 8100).

I’m confused….
Is the Blackberry Pearl 2 the Blackberry Pearl 8130?

What is the Blackberry Pearl Komet? I’ve read that the Komet is the Pearl 2 also. Or is it Pearl 3???

Also, everywhere i’ve read that the Komet is rumored to be 3.5 MP however the 8130 is only 2.0 MP. Can someone please clarify. Thanks.

Give me more information on VZW releasing the Curve. I had to sign up with AT&T/Cingular due to a trip to China because I don’t like the 8830 World Phone. I purchased the Curve from AT&T/Cingular and the phone is GREAT!!! However AT&T/Cingular really need help. (I’m sending it back! I Want the best of all worlds. Blackberry Curve & VZW!! So before I get carried away, tell me more about VZW releasing the Curve!

I don’t question you, I question the source. This is good example of inconsistent information. If you ask 10 different VZW reps you get 12 different answers. I was told you MUST have a data plan and a “pay as you go” data plan doesn’t count for all BB’s.

I shouldn’t be surprised the verizon store said you can cancel the data portion of the pearl after a month. I didn’t think that was possible b/c BB’s by nature constantly send out signals to retrieve data.

I want the pearl…I just don’t want the $45 a month data plan to go with it.

Course a verizon rep also told me they weren’t getting the pearl at all.

It seems that all wireless carriers have crappy customer service and always give out inconsistent info. Oh the humanity!!

Im just wondering if anyone knows any way i can get a blackberry without getting the internet access with it. I went to a Verizon store and they said you have to get the internet access and pay 45 dollars a month but you can cancel it after the first month. But im wondering if theres a way I can just get the phone and thats it.

Great example of a dysfunctional product (i.e. VZ Blackberry 8300 with GPS capability that uses power, but doesn’t actually work because they wanted subscribers to use their GPS product). Do we know if this is still the case?

Do readers have other similar examples? I’m testifying in front of the Senate next Wed. (Oct. 17) on wireless locking and I’m trolling for new examples like this one. Any help would be much appreciated.

I spoke with a customer service rep at the Verizon Wireless 800 telephone number about 2 weeks ago and was told that “YES” they are going to be releasing the Pearl, but did not have a release date as yet. Don’t know if it is the Pearl 1 or 2. Let’s just hope it is the 2.

I left VZN after 10 years for the pearl (AT&T). Verizon clearly has a better network – but AT&T isn’t terrible. Someone said Sprint above? That’s comical to me from what I’ve heard. In VZN store yesterday and was told pearl is coming out the first week of Nov – for sure. I may switch back (most everyone I know uses VZN, and it is a better network), but I’ll wait to hear/see the facts.

This is what a verizon rep told me in July:

” I spoke
with our wireless data solutions manager, Bridgitt Rhodes, and from the
information I’ve collected it looks as though there is no general
time-frame in the works for a Verizon Wireless Blackberry Pearl 8100
device anytime soon. Although we may carry one in the future, we
currently don’t have a roadmap in place for the device as we are
marketing the 8830 BB. If I find out additional information in the
future, I’ll let you know… But it looks like no 8100 with VZW for
2007. “

cas – You want an example of Verizon locking or crippling features? Here’s one: I have a Verizon 8830 Blackberry. It has GPS just like Sprint’s 8830, just like AT&T’s 8800, and just like TMO’s 8800. The GPS functionality inside the Verizon 8830 still works and uses battery power – Verizon had RIM disable the GPS functionality in software so the user can’t get to it. I have heard the justification for this was so Verizon could substitute its own VZ Navigator system at a monthly rate but was behind in its development of VZ Naviagator so the 8830 wound up with the default GPS in a functioning but useless state.

I’m pretty ignorant with this stuff, but when everyone bitches about how Verizon “locks” features, what features exactly are being locked? In other words, what features does the T-Mobile and/or AT&T Pearl have that the Verizon doesn’t? I was actually going to switch carriers since I wanted this, but if it is really coming for Verizon in November I can wait, since almost everyone I know has Verizon. Also, does anyone know if the voice plan / data they offer for $79.99/mo. (450 minutes) involves internet and all that jazz? Thanks.

I would rather have a so called “crippled” Verizon phone than another carrier that drops calls or has no service when I need it. Those other carriers leave their phones unlocked so you have something to do while you have no service. I want reception first that is why I got a phone in the first place. If I wanted a phone that won’t make calls than I would have gone T-mobile, Sprint, AT&T one of the so called “competitors.” Verizon with the Pearl is a great match plus ill take EVDO over that GSM crap anyday. Verizon Wireless for life of until someone is better. Verizon has no competition and take more customers away from the others every single day.

I just spoke with my friend who is a salesman for Blackberry, there is no expected release date (and nothing in the works as of yet) but I would figure sometime next year (bc that’s about how long it took them to get the Pearl). At least we’re getting somewhere…

I called Verizon yesterday to ask about the Pearl again. The guy said that they have been given a list of all the phones and release dates for the fourth quarter but that he wasn’t allowed to give me any information. Based on the questions I asked, he said I should be looking for a big release around the end of the summer. I asked him what time frame he considered to be the “end of the summer” and he said that he lives in Arizona and it stops getting hot in Arizona around late October/early November. Could that be code for a release date?
