T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Curve (8320) on September 24th

Well, isn’t this a glorious day. You begged, you pleaded with the T-Mobile gods, and now we finally have something concrete. It seems as if September 24th is the rumored launch date set in stone for one of the most anticipated BlackBerry devices to date — the BlackBerry Curve with WiFi + UMA (8320). We’ve got a string of other handsets we’re sifting through at moment from our oh-so-fabulous informants, but in the meantime, I guess we can all just "marinate" on this BlackBerry Curve launch date. Yeah, it’s golden. Hey T-Mobz, care to send us an embargoed unit? Thank ya’s
Thanks, tmophonehome!

just called tmobile cust service twice and both CSR’s said the rumor is FLASE. there is no US blackberry curve launch in september. In fact they show nothing for the rest of 2007. they have a list of all headsets scheduled for luanch till dec 31st and this is UNFORTUNATELY not on it.
I SO HOPE THIS IS NOT TURE but its looking like my dreams are shattered.

I spoke with a t-mobile representative in Tampa, Florida. He advised me that the curve will be coming out AUGUST 24th. I thought that was odd because of the rumored September 24th release date.

is there any word on whether this new blackberry 8320 will be quadband or not?

I spoke to T-mobile rep as well, and he told me 3rd week in August

Latest Tmo rep would not tell me much. Told me that the 8320 is coming out for them, did not know the release date, said maybe it would be pushed back to OCT!
I hope not. If it does, I will still wait for it.

I work in customer care with tmobile. we are some of the first to hear about new launches, except for the higher ups of course. but the point is, is that there is a rumor of the curve coming. it will for sure have wifi but from what my manager has said, it may be one of the new hotspot@home devices. there is no official date on the actual release. the 24th is probably a good guess though. there are also the BlackBerry Pearl in gold, red and blue known as the “Pearl Colors” that are launching very shortly.

I called T-mobile yesterday (8/22) and the girl on the phone said that she heard that it was coming the next few days…Aug 24th? Killed me that AT&T had such great phones. I’ve been on Verizon and love their service and the only other carrier I would move to is T-mobile.

I called Tmo again! This CSR said it was coming on the 24th. I asked when the Hot Spot @ Home promo price is over and he stated the 5th of Sept @ Midnight. So, if you wanna enjoy free calls from your hot spots on this baby, order the service on the 4th to keep the current price. Otherwise, it goes up to 19.99 a month (WOW!)

Well I just call T-mobile right now, and I talk to the Blackberry department and he said It should be out the 1st or 2nd week of September.

It’s 100% official — Sept 24th T-Mobile releases the Curve. I’ve seen it, it is in SILVER only. The reason some t-mobile reps do not let you know about its release is because they are not allowed to until an official ‘press release’ via their systems.
I promise. Sept 24th. It’s silver not gold. *nod*

T-Mo customer reps range from knowledgeable to nimrod newbies.
When I talked to one about the Pearl works with a 4Gb chip she acted surpised and wanted the link that I gave her on discussing that. She appeared to be a more experienced rep and she has had the Pearl for 9 months.
Throughout the Net Sept. 24th sounds like the release date.
As to confirmation of that fact [at least circumstantial evidence] when I ordered my hotspot@home service a few weeks ago, T-Mo had pulled offering the Nokia 6086 phone that would work with the at home service.
The only phone they had available was a crappy Samsung 409 something or other.
So seems to me that unless they are coming out with some exciting new phones [aka The Curve] T-Mo has to be nuts in offering @home with only the butt ugly Samsung phone.
IMHO T-Mo is getting ready to offer some new WiFi capable phones that work with its @Home service, including the Curve.
As to pricing, I suspect the Curve will be priced to compete with other carriers. And upgrade wise, I suspect it will be about $200, the same as the Pearl was last September. I suspect it will be “low priced” to motivate people to buy the BB and @home service.
After all, where T-Mo and other carriers make their money is with added services, not phone sales. So T-Mo won’t be pricing the phone out of customers’ reach to where they won’t also sign up for the additional monthly services.
Just my hunch.

I just talked to the guy at 611 (T-mobile representative) and he told me that officially in their computer systems BB Curve is coming out on Sept. 24! He said he is 100% sure! Don’t believe me? Call yourself…
Done with the Pearl… Curve is next

Confirmed this morning that the Tmo CSR’s see this scheduled for release on the 24th of Sept, but they can still push back the release date if there are software problems. As we see on BGR today, they are upgrading the OS, so let’s hope they do not have too many bugs.

OK! These t-mo release dates keep changing! I was trying to wait but I can’t anymore, I’m about to hope over onto the At&t train, and finally grab me a BB curve. Great deals on Amazon also, you literally get it for free after the rebate!

Have Pearl now also, waiting eagerly for the curve i had almost enough of the tiny pearl keyboard (although i do love the unit overall). They do need to throw in a tiny pearl cleaner mine darkens after a while. Rep said i am due for a “partial upgrade” whatever that is maybe I get half a curve, maybe an arch.

Chris, if I were in your shoes, I definitely would not switch to att. As a former att customer that has switched to T-mo, I can tell you 100 percent, you will definitely be paying more a month for service with fewer minutes, texts, etc….Also, the customer service is crap, most of the reps are rude and unprofessional. Yes, att does get most of the new phones these days, but other carriers usually get a varient of the same phones after the “exclusivity period,” right? I would be able to understand your switch more so if the curve wasn’t coming to T-mo at all, but, we already have a soft release date and on top of that, us T-mo customers will get wifi on our bb! Can’t you hold off for just a little longer? September isn’t that much farther away….I am telling you, att is nothing but bad news…

I would not switch. I used to be with AT&T, Sprint and others. I have been with T-Mo for about four years. I will never switch to another carrier.
T-Mo has the best rates, but even if they went up a little higher, I still would not switch. Main reason is that I love T-Mo custo service. They are known for spending three hours on the phone with someone to fix a problem.
When I have called to add services, the last time to add hotspot@home, the rep explained everything, did not rush me, was respectful and I think the call was about an hour because we were not rushing things [it was a Sunday].
AT&T has lousy rates and when I was with them they were rude, condescending and unprofessional. Pay higher rates and get treated like dirt? No thank you.
Answer this, what kind of contract will you have to enter into at AT&T to get the Curve? Calculate the cost of the two year contract, aka service plan, and compare that with waiting to get the phone with T-MO.
Is it worth $xxx.xx to get the phone a few weeks earlier? Assuming you will pay $600 to $700 more over two years, that is, rate total between T-MO and AT&T, is it worth $600 to get the phone three or four weeks before T-Mo comes out with it?
I guess for some people it’s worth it, but not to me. And add in AT&T’s rude service, well…. I would not even be considering that lousy carrier.

So a quick question off topic from a Blackberry newbie. Are you required to pay for a data plan with the T-mobile BBs? I spend most of my time in a WiFi area, and wondered if I could connect to the web via WiFi even though I don’t pay $20/mo for the data plan via the EDGE.

I agree 100% with Michael.
T-Mobile’s (USA) Costomer Service is so good that they could help me with problems with my N95 that NokiaUSA couldn’t (because my N95 is from Singapore, as is the guy I bought it from).
Yeah, they spent like 6 or 7 hours on the phone with me. Each day for about a week.
And the rep who I talked to had NEVER heard of the phone.
He thought for A long time that I was saying N93, which is in T-Mobile’s (again, USA) database.
