New possible airport security reads your eyes

Think airport security sucks? You’re probably in the majority. A new walkthrough iris-recognition gate could be a potential answer, though. It’s a new product from Panasonic that doesn’t even require you to focus on a particular object. You just have to walk through it slowly enough. If you do, it can read your eyes in about 2 seconds. Pretty slick. The best part? It has a really low failure rate (1/1,200,000), and can even detect if eyes belong to a live or dead person. Make the jump for all the fancy details.

What’s the use in being able to recognize if the eyes belong to a dead person?

    I assume it’s a security feature?

Wouldn’t it be obvious if somebody were wearing a dead person’s eyes? Wouldn’t they be decomposing? And it would be difficult for that person wearing a dead person’s eyes to see? A security guard would be able to see such a person stumbling through the metal detector. Or maybe they are trying to catch blind people who are wearing dead people’s eyes? Sounds like a super system to catch those blind criminals as well!

Oh, it’s more for personal identification than actual airport security…

I was thinking…they can read eyes to tell if you’re carrying something illegal or smuggling something…? Lol.

Now that is sick. Does it have a lie detector cause sometimes when people lie their eyes jitter around and some people not but you catch a potential smuggler that way.
