TaxiWiz makes getting “taken” more obvious
New to a city and not sure how much a cab fare will be? Just visiting, and don’t want to get taken by the cabbie? TaxiWiz to the rescue. A quick jaunt over to taxiwiz.com will allow you to input your location, that of your destination and, you guessed it, will populate a Google Map (sweet!) and calculate an approximate cab fare. Granted, cab fares are considerably more regulated now and are usually standardized. But, a little piece of mind never hurts. So far, TaxiWiz is only available in 8 destination cities, including New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and San Diego, but is expected to roll out to more. There’s even a mobile version (minus the map) for each city, so you can pull out that mobile phone and calculate on the fly. Happy cabbing!

Pretty neat but I took a taxi from Grand Central to Penn Station last night and it was $5.30 plus 50 cents evening surcharge. Taxiwiz says $8.00. He went straight over to Time Square then down to Penn Station.
Got me. Still neat though.
Yea but the fact that somebody has such a bad case of no life and made this is a “Neat.” factor upon itself. Although I do feel bad for the guy that doesn’t have a life and made this.
Even if he is off by a few buck$ he still deserves some props.
On second thought, it was around 9pm and while there was a lot of traffic around Time Square there was no other traffic so I didn’t get nailed with charges for sitting still. So ignore my comment, the page is neat the more I play with it!
