BlackBerry Pearl 2, BlackBerry Curve 8310, BlackBerry 8820 slides leaked
While there’s not a whole lot here that we haven’t already told you about, it’s always nice to see some tangible proof in front of us, ya know? The BlackBerry 8310 and BlackBerry 8320 are old hat, with versions in various forms floating around for a while now. The BlackBerry 8820 slide is also a bit long in the tooth, though it’s interesting to note that RIM appears to be referring to this as "the most feature-rich BlackBerry device ever!" Ok, guys, like whatevs. The BlackBerry Pearl 2, or 8130 news, however, contain a couple of nice tidbits. The big news is that there are, in fact, CDMA and GSM variants planned. The devices will be very similar, though the CDMA version will have GPS and no Wi-Fi, while the EDGE-capable GSM variant will sport Wi-Fi but no GPS. Whack! Expect it to drop sometime in the "Fall of 2007". Check out the full run down after the jump, including some specifics on upcoming revisions to the BlackBerry JDE — there are way too many changes to list here. Peep the pics for the full details.
P.S. RIM is going to include streaming media support in their browser, right? But get this — you have to use either WiFi or EVDO. BlackBerry 9xxx, where art thou?
Thanks, Nicole!

I don’t care about having GPS functionality on my phone, but I do like the idea of having Wifi.
Nonetheless, if the Wifi is crippled, I’m not interested.
For example, if I can’t use it with my home network, it’s a no go.

It does seem a little sketchy….the way it says “confidential” like that…kind of weird.
And what about the idea that the Pearl 2 was supposed to be lighter in weight?

TrueDIS got me thinking..
The more I look at these screen shots the more they are looking like frauds. One big one is the misspelling in the final picture of the word Access which was spelled ” Acess ”
There are a few other things that don’t seem to be worded the way things like this normally would be worded. Maybe technically acceptable grammar but not something you would find in offical documentation IMO.
anyone else see anything?

Being that I posted the shots and that they came directly from RIM today during their fall launch webcast, I can tell you that they are legit. If you have doubts, than that’s your issue to deal with. There has been a lot of speculation as to what is coming and now its been verified. Want me to leak the whole presentation to prove it or do you want to take the word that its legit and then be left looking like an ass when these hit and the information proves to be correct? We don’t make shit up like this to leak. We are too busy busting our ballsgetting the information for all of you then you have the balls to question it?

Total Fake…
i know the guy, who knows another guy, that has a brother, who dated this chick once, who told him her cousin was bored last night and came up with these screen shots…
Sorry Guys

Slides definitely look legit. They are just how RIM makes them…spelling errors are all par for the course. I’d be very very surprised if these turned out to be fake. On another note, I still believe the Pearl 2 will have a 3.2 megapixel camera…

Actually would you post the entire presentation? I’m not doubting the authenticity, I’m just interested in seeing their whole presentation

Yeah. You got me. I had nothing better to do last night than spend 6 hours on photoshop thinking “how can I fuck with everybody”.

There isn’t much more to it. Questions about release dates were deflected of course.

Hey, thanks Outsider for sharing… much appreciated!

@Powercell: no problem and you’re welcome. Isn’t that the reason we are all here anyways? To get as much info as possible so we can start plotting on who we are going to have to rob and by when so we can get our hands on these shiny new toys? If RIMs stock shoots up tonight, then they owe us all some money. We are the ones for their stock kicking ass as much as it is!

I no release weren’t talked about. But do you think that “Fall 2007″ means first week September and the business calendar or some latter time in October?
My plan is up in September and I really wanteh Pearl 2 EDGE version so if you grant me speculation it would be much appreciated.

okay okay.. whatever..
top picture.. headlined “Wi-FI enabled blackberry handhelds”
Then directly below it shows the 8820, okay..
then the 8310…… hmm
then the Pearl 2, alright..
wait.. the 8310 is headlined under a document stating here are devices enabled with Wi-Fi.. the 8310 doesn’t mention having Wi-Fi.. that seems like a pretty big mistake.. huh.. *Shrug* must be another up to par mistake.

Pearl 2 for CDMA, Finally!!
CDMA Needs More Love!
Don’t you guys think that CDMA has better service in the US than GSM? I mean, lets be honest, does AT&T or TMO have better phone coverage that Sprint or VZW? And the data is obviously faster on CDMA.
Of course GSM has better phones, the carriers can sell them all over the world. But with the exception of a few obscure areas, can anyone honestly say GSM service is better than CDMA service??

who cares if their real or not.
and why would their stock jump up over these, these devices are their naturla progression of the models. It just takes them too long to make these things happen.

I agree with BG on his comments. These slides are definitely par for the course for not only RIM but practically every carrier in the wireless market space as well. Often times, these presentations are made fairly early on and usually carried through release, so information can be skewed and incorrect, such as the 2.0MP camera for the Pearl refresh. FWIW, one carrier recently quoted their Curve (yet to be released) revision as having a 1.3MP camera when it’s being released with a 2.0MP camera.

Hi BGR,
Remember you told us about 8320 AKA Curve with

Is the info on the 8310 and 8820 really “leaked” though? They’re available in Europe: http://www.blackberry8800series.co.uk/blackberry8820/
