BlackBerry Pearl 2, BlackBerry Curve 8310, BlackBerry 8820 slides leaked

While there’s not a whole lot here that we haven’t already told you about, it’s always nice to see some tangible proof in front of us, ya know? The BlackBerry 8310 and BlackBerry 8320 are old hat, with versions in various forms floating around for a while now. The BlackBerry 8820 slide is also a bit long in the tooth, though it’s interesting to note that RIM appears to be referring to this as "the most feature-rich BlackBerry device ever!" Ok, guys, like whatevs. The BlackBerry Pearl 2, or 8130 news, however, contain a couple of nice tidbits. The big news is that there are, in fact, CDMA and GSM variants planned. The devices will be very similar, though the CDMA version will have GPS and no Wi-Fi, while the EDGE-capable GSM variant will sport Wi-Fi but no GPS. Whack! Expect it to drop sometime in the "Fall of 2007". Check out the full run down after the jump, including some specifics on upcoming revisions to the BlackBerry JDE — there are way too many changes to list here. Peep the pics for the full details.

P.S. RIM is going to include streaming media support in their browser, right? But get this — you have to use either WiFi or EVDO. BlackBerry 9xxx, where art thou?

Thanks, Nicole!

The Pearl 2, pretty nice upgrades, having to choose between camera and wifi.. not an easy one for me since I am likely to use both.

The 8820 – if it wasn’t for the WiFi I would probbly go with the 8310, it seems to have a strong suite of features. This seems to clarify how the WiFi is going to be able to be used a little. It states DirectTCP threw Access Point which i’m hoping means TCP/IP threw say your average home broadband router.

What i’ve been struggling on with understanding this fully is that I see alot about being able to access your data threw the blackberry services package, having a blackberry enterprise server, and requiring VPN. All of which I don’t think you are going to just find on a random network around town or at your local starbucks or at home. As I don’t know either way for sure i’m keeping my fingers crossed that it is possible to use without those things. If not the wifi is useless and i’d get the 8310

I think the wifi is overhyped, other than voip its a waste (unless Canadian). BB processor and browser are too slow and locked down to make browsing much better than it is.

I thought the Pearl2 was supposed to have a 3 megapixel camera? Oh well. Not like it’s gonna be great anyway.

Are you sure this isn’t bogus? All of the feature upgrades to the Pearl seem too good be true (it seems to address just about every possible complaint with it) without really changing the look at all … I just can’t see them doing that.

BGR had a lot of stuff wrong on the pearl 2. No horizontal 3,2 meg cam. No new design. Same old color.

Does this mean that the Pearl 2 isn’t coming out first week of september?
