American Airlines adopts Wi-Fi provider

In-flight Wi-Fi is all the rage these days, with everyone from Lufthansa to Qantas jumping on the bandwagon. The problem is that American carriers have been slow to adopt the technology, leaving us suspended in mid-air with nary a Wi-Fi signal to be found. Never fear, though, as American Airlines has stepped up to the plate. The iconic American airline has partnered with AirCell to bring Wi-Fi to its passengers. AirCell will be equipping AA’s fleet of 767-200s sometime next year, most of which are destined for transcontinental travel, with domestic aircraft following suit shortly thereafter. Prices, as expected, will not be announced until the service formally launches, but don’t expect this relative luxury to come cheaply.

I would be up for it if its like $30 for int’l flight. I would love to be able to read BG while flying to Paris.

This is going to be awesome! Happy to see Lufthansa is going to have wi-fi, when I fly to Europe, I am going to love it! My next trip is hopefully going to be soon because I want to take advantage of their fare sale pricing right now, wish the wi-fi was going to be there, but it will still be a great flight!!!

I find it hard to believe that airborne WiFi is “all the rage” since Boeing shut down their Connexion service last year.

Also, the carrier’s name is Qantas.

Except for the fact that they are charging insane (or will be) amounts of money to use this it’s pretty freaking sweet.
