Playing pirated video games? The Man could be after you next
We’ve all seen the mods…a little chip that magically opens the doors to imports, pirated discs, and who knows what else. If you’re a fan of modding your box, though, the federal government might have you in their sights. Raids in 16 states and 32 businesses and homes occured Wednesday, where federal customs agents dug around for potentially chipped Xboxes, Wiis, and PS2s. The raids are looking to begin stifling an estimated $3 billion that is lost by the worldwide gaming industry due to pirated software…and that’s not including things acquired via the ‘net. Curious if The Man was in your hood? The states involved were California, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

The people they busted must of had some crazy stuff going on, making tons pirated games or something like that. I would assume they are only going after big time pirates.

stupid. it’ll cost more to operate these kind of raids then the $$ lost in piracy. notice how there are people like me who’d only buy a game console if there are pirates games out there… who’s gonna pay $50+ for a game when we can pay next to nothing? so what now? we’ll expect to see a decline in game console sales, sony, microsoft and nintendo will suffer and blame the feds

exactly mayby if they lowerd he price ther would be no real demad to pirate also notice there how most of the states in the story have oover regulated enviorments. hevy regulation leads to high operating costs, lead to hostile business environs, wich in turn creates an envorment for black markets an crimanals to thrive. the thing about making an honest buck is hey are so hard to mack cause everybodys doing it. So in a way nintendo MS an Sony are the victems of ther own sucsess

Its called self control, if someone cannot control their actions then they have bigger problems to worry about. Its more about people being cheap.

yeah but why is the reson people are cheap?
they can try to controll ther wallet can consumer spending but cant’t control ther desire to have the latest thing. th latest thing is not always the best thing.
Eg the lame cube the N64 the Xbox#^) the the ibrick
the iphone is nothin more an a glorfied verizon phone on a GSM network.
if you gonna buy hight end consoles like a PS3 o xbox 360 you might as well buy Highend destop PC wit a trucload of RAM an decent hard drive and a *00 video card with vista an a highend motherboard wit los of expansion slot cause thats what the xbox basicly is.
the marketing DEPT. has pulled the wool over your eyes folks
LOOK OOH IT’S SHINY!
