iPhone firmware update imminent?
Take this with a grain of salt, as it comes from the oh-so-wise mouth of a financial analyst. That being said, the analyst in question did happen to have a quick convo with Apple VP Greg Joswiak, so we’re inclined to put some faith in his "educated guess." According to RBC Capitol Markets, an iPhone firmware update is coming soon. Among the fixes and updates will be new widgets, iChat, MMS, home networking support, Leopard integration, and location based services. Chances are good that this won’t be a revolutionary alteration to the iPhone’s OS, but rather an incremental update design to address a number of launch criticisms. Either way, iChat would be a welcome addition to the iPhone stable, and the other updates should put some of the naysayer’s doubts to rest.

i beat victor, whoohoo!
ichat would be welcome as well as voice dialing and im sure they will add all they can to keep as much momentum going as possible.
I dont know if I should bother modding my iPhone now because if they send a update im going to be screwed…
Will this update let you to set the wallpaper on the home screen? Jeez, iCan’t believe that the iPhone doesn’t let you do that….
Great phone but it really needs an update. I could make a list of the issues that I hope they fix but I’m in the middle of some things. Hope the update makes this phone even better. MMS would be nice, real nice but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Video would also be nice and I am pretty sure they can add that with a software update (I know you could with the first model RAZRs, I did it myself). The update couldn’t come soon enough but, I hope it’s worth the wait.
And the updates begin. I think devices should be updated but a bit smoother on the updates. Less of them with more content… And obviously in a faster release time. Congrat test on your victory.
Are you saying the update has been released? rofl. Re-read what you posted because I can’t make any sense of it.
Apple pulling another Verizon ladies ad gentelmen. might as wel be its not what you CAN do with this hand set it’s what you CAN’T do.
Note a couple of important things. First, the analyst speculated that future updates would include those new features. That’s updates with an “s” so no telling what this allegedly imminent update will actually include. More importantly, he said “no word however on integration to Microsoft Exchange.” Without that, this phone is dead to me.
Fred, they are a computer company – they release updates all the time for their computer, ipods and of course they will release periodic updates for the phone. I do agree that exchange would be a big necessity for business. I have my BB 8800 but am growing unhappy with RIM’s strategy, might cause me to defect.
How about ringtones or the ability to text more than one person at a time. I like this phone (I miss my Blackberry Pearl though) but seriously, for a $600 phone not to have ringtones is sad.
MMS, Video, landscape keyboard in all apps, flash player, easier iPod fast forwarding, ringtones, (SDK!!!)…
good to hear that
or maybe closing loopholes??
Well I hope this “should have been fixed last week security hole” update wasnt the one he was talking about. They really need to release iChat already I’m sick of gay meebo and flickim, they suck
It was interesting to browse trough
keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
