i really gotta disagree, i too experienced all operating systems for mobiles, and i had most top brands out there already, except android which is not out yet, and so far, i cant keep my hands off my p1, its simply mind blowing, even though i had more apps and games on my previous p910, i enjoy the p1 more, hopefully developers will make more or update their work for the uiq3

this phone is an iphone killer, dont be fooled

check ebay and see how much used iphones are for sale and read the sellers’ comments, then check for the used p1, i doubt u will find 5 used p1 compared to the scores of iphones users are fedup with. P1 all the way

I have to also disagree with the review of the keyboard. I used this phone today and i must say that the keyboard is one of the best qwerty keyboards i have used on a phone second only to the one on my old nokia 6820.

Yes, i absolutely love the P1. It’s got everything and i mean everything. I watch DivX movies, listen to the radio, listen to mp3, record voice notes, take pictures, send the pictures, record video, go online, read ms office docs, send sms, oh yeah and make calls…. and do all of this one after the other since they all run in the background with no performance hit.

it’s very very stable.

i will never trade phone this for the 1st gen iphone. the only thing that may possibly beat this phone for me, is the upcoming P5.

I will go with the rest of those who loves this phone, for me its a complete package in one perfect size and heck I am using it for every thing but making calls. Keyboard since you said a lot for it, its beautiful and within minutes I was typing as fast as on computer keyboard. In start I had some problem with the onscreen keyboard but again it took only few minutes to educate my thumb which part to use to get 99% accuracy with speed.

Others have said a lot so I wont say much of harsh words. Nothing is perfect but yes this device is better than very good. This device has lot more options than some of new companies are showing off as their major features.

yeah well i disagree 100%, like ben sayd you get osed to typing and i think a write even faster than on the keyboard so it’s good phone… i ask appology , but the phone fell sometimes out of my hand (.. but it has got NO scratches and no problems what so ever… very tough phone

I swapped my BB Pearl for a P1i a week ago…and I’m loving it.

I was originally concerned about the keyboard (I have hands like bear paws) after reading all the reviews and looking at the pictures, but these were all greatly unfounded.

In fact, with my big hands it is even easier to use a P1i keyboard than the pearl.

In conjunction with BB Connect this is a superb device.

Don’t got by the pictures. Get your hands on one, try it, you will be converted.

I say the P1 looks a lot like Robert Reeds bowl of broth. It is beautiful from many angles, and the lines are clean, but I just wonder if the operating system can keep up with the competition of say, the XM202, or the BB 8320.

Thanks, but you know, your opinion means nothing when it is about something with which you have no experience.

The P1 is new. You don’t understand it. Don’t blast it. Give it a try and don’t be like the rest of the world’s corporate, whining sycophants who are afraid to get a little out of their comfort boxes.

Try something new.

Hell, my P910 was the best, fastest, most stable phone I ever had. Now we all know the P990 was an absolute disaster. But UIQ 3 with all the RAM the P1 has should be pretty good.

But you should try it before you blast the hell out of it. Unless you are afraid of being kicked out of the WM fanboy club.

Just got the p1 and I must say this is the best damn phone I have ever had – and I’ve had em all (nokia, benQ, SE, LG, Palm)

Try google maps for gps – free and it works!

I disagree, I have had almost all there is on the market in Sweden, ( I am not swedish by the way) and let me tell you there are quite a bit of phones around here, I love the size of P1, I rather have the week view I get here than in any other phone including the third party ones you have to add to a Windows Mobile or Palm phone,you’ll never get a phone this size with a keyboard that for me works perfectly fine, and now this machine has even a 3.2 megapixels camera, wifi, 3g, walkman, and the experience of the mistakes they made with its predecesors. Still I have to say, not the perfect one, material is not high quality and I am missing a sync program as Activesync

So, obviously have never had the pleasure of using an SE handset. P990 excluded, they are the best available. Period. Unless, of course, you need American-friendly 3G operation as, following the P910a, there has been nothing from SE which supports stateside 3G bandwidths.

I don’t think you’re being very objective here.

I can type just as fast on my M600i as on any other QWERTY smarphone I’ve used (BlackJack, E61) – it feels just fine.

Not to mention, I’ve played with the P1i ( http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/2007/05/15/sony-ericsson-p1i-hands-on/ ), and the keyboard was even better than the one on my M600i!

Not a smartphone? If anything, UIQ/Symbian is a better OS than BlackBerry or Windows Mobile (supporting both BlackBerry connect and ActiveSync and offering a powerful office suite out of the box).

The P1i adds important features to the M600i, like WiFi and a great camera – the tri-band GSM, lack of EDGE, and lack of US-capable UMTS are the only significant problems here…

It’s not just the crappy keyboard. How about no soft keys to match the frequent presentation of soft buttons on the bottom of the screen. You’re forced to swap between touchscreen and keyboard regularly.

I loved the M600i keyboard and thought it was one of the best designed I’ve ever used so I bought one of these knowing that Sony Ericsson always puts in a solid Camera and the extra RAM will make it more useable than the P990i. UIQ is not perfect, but I’ve never used any phone UI that was perfect, so no bother. Only thing I will miss is the 850MHZ and EDGE….

Sorry BG, I totally disagree with you on this one… I have a M600i and after one week of usage I can type just as fast on that keyboard as I can on any other Mobile keyboard I’ve tried (which is quite a few)… The thing I love most about it is that this style keyboard gives you true qwerty while keeping the phone from being a wide load in your pocket.

Also, how can you say this isn’t a smart phone?? Heck my m600 does more for me than any other Windows or BB phone I’ve owned! Java app support on a WM phone? not… And the P1 supports both active sync and BB connect push email as well as push imap if the server supports it. You can view PDFs and open word/excel docs… There are also a ton of UIQ3 apps available now to extend it even further.. don’t know if I understand where you’re coming from on that statement..

I was not impressed when I saw the design itself and from what you have said I think I would be best that I not even think of trying it. Although cam and maybe a few other features do interest me a bit more.
